Wow you all are being insanely helpful, I love you all! :grouphug:

Thanks for replying to my threads. One was about how on the first night of our trip, we won't be going to the parks but we'll be dining at an on property restaurant. Thanks to you guys, I narrowed it down to a Character Dinner at either 1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey's. But then, I remembered that you can see Wishes from the California Grill. I don't know which to choose for my first night. If I don't go to the CG the first night, i'll go another night. When I call, what time should I ask for and where should I ask to be seated? Thank you! ;)

We had ADRs for 5:40 and wishes was at 8:00 that night, we had a window table with a great view of MK and the lagoon, we were done with dinner, desert and coffee and tried to linger but it was only 7:15 and didn't want to hold up the table, we watched from the out door walkway and it was great the music was piped up, it was nice.
Find out what time wishes is and get your ADR for an hour before and ask for a window seat to watch wishes, call early though like right now to asure you get the ADR you want, remember they require a credit card number and if you don't cancel within 24 hours of you ADR and you don't show they charge you $20 I think.

We at at the CG on Christmas eve and booked our table for an hour before Wishes started. We were given a wonderful table by the window overlooking the MK but we decided to walk out onto the viewing area to watch the fireworks and then return to the table to finish our meal. It was wonderful to watch the fireworks from the viewing area with the music piped in, it really made an already wonderful meal extra special.

OK here is the thing...we just had dinner at CG 2 nights ago and let me say it was AMAZING ..BUT we had ressies for 6:10 and tried to linger but it didn't work we were done by 8:15 or so. Now I don't know if it was only because it was slow and off season but both the manager and waiter told us keep your receipt(to show at the elevator) and come back at 8:50 for wishes and that is what we did. It was awesome we grabbed a glass of wine at the bar and then went outside but unlike the last time we were there the music was not piped outside so we watched from inside in the back it was still a great view.

If I were you I would make ressies at like 7:30 and request a window seat! have fun.

oh ps...if you have never been there try the goat cheese ravioli it is awesome and i believe it is one of the items they always have.

hi there!
For the California Grill, your window of opportunity for ADR's is large. If the ADR is at a later time, you guys can always put the knife and fork down, napkin up, and head out to the viewing patio. Your best bet would be to ask the Dining people when you call. We experienced Wishes from CG and it was great. I was a lil' disappointed in that we couldn't really hear the piped in music that well. But over all it was a great experience, we had timed it so that we were either in the middle of dessert or paying the bill. I suppose the most ideal time, imho, would be right after you order desserts. That way, you can eat your meal, go for a little stroll, let your stomach settle and not have to fight you way back downstairs on the elevators. Good luck and have fun!!!!

Foobs :earsboy:

Also, after the fireworks the viewing balcony completely clears out, and you can take some beautiful pictures with a great MK backdrop.
