Wish Trippers...Unite!! Volume One

thanks for the input. it's just been something I started wondering about lately. AJ is halfway through our intensive chemo treatments. 3 down and 3 to go. what a rollercoaster. His MAW will probably be in Feb. (don't have exact dates yet), but was wondering if he'd still have that or be clear of the port by then. It will probably just depend on different stuff, like you said.

Tomorrow, Monday, September 15th is the big day for Sebastian...he is having his port surgery.

I think he is is excited to get it out since we explained that it means no more needles. He asked if he will have "the mask" (for the anesthsia) and like an idiot I said, "Yes." I wanted him to be prepared but this totally sent him into a panic and he was crying about being scared of "the mask." So Brian and I just told him "No mask" and he calmed down. He's having Versed so he won't remember the mask anyway. Thank God!

We'll be there at 5:30 a.m. and he should be going under about 7:30 a.m. Please lift our little guy up to the Lord and pray that this is his last surgery :) Thank you! Thank you!

Off to go wash his Super Man pajamas. He wants to wear them tomorrow to help him be a brave boy and they were in the laundry.

Much love and gratitude! ~Amber

Has anyone heard from Amber about Sebastian? :confused3

I'm here :) Sorry it took me so long to post. I had a stressful couple of days...Everything went well and Sebastian came through fine. He was quite a mess for a good while after he woke up. He was wailing for pain medicine...somethign he's never done before. Some Morphine, Lortab and chicken nuggets eventually perked him up. For more info you can checkout our family blog. PM me if you need the address. Thanks for all your prayers!!! No matter how many times we've seen Sebastian taken away to be put under we still get that anxious feeling. I'm relieved the surgery is over and my little red head's future is bright! I'll try and post some pics tommorow while the kids are at preschool.

To answer the previous post about how long we waited to take his port out. We waited until we had a CLEAR CT and Bone Scan. :) :) When you are not using the port for treatments it still has to be flushed every three weeks to avoid clotting. The less needles the better!

Much Love!! ~Amber

:cheer2: Oh I am so relieved!

XOXOXO

Give him hugs!

Amber, that is great news!

We are still waiting on dates over here for Nick's wish. One of our MAW volunteers dropped off a form to be filled out at dh's work tonight and said that we should hear something after the 26th when the have their next board meeting. I will probably start a PTR after we get an actual date.

YEAH!!!

I am so glad Sebastian's surgery went well! That is excellent news. I work at a cancer clinic (adults) and most of our patients really feel like the worst is over when they get that port out! That is fantastic news!

Way to go Sebastian!

:woohoo:

As promised pictures of our little guy from the Port surgery...

5:30 a.m....too early!

Amber,

Oh how sweet. Bless his heart. And bless yours! Those were great pictures. I showed them to William tonight (he is still awake...yikes!) and he thought they were so sweet! :)

Hello all! Back from the world, safe and sound.

Amber, that is great news _ and those are fabulous photos - Sebastian is SO cute! (Just like your other kids are, in fact!)

I didn't get to work at GKTW this time, but I did hand off a big box of toiletries for the gift bags, and another box of scrapbook pages. Some week in the future, all the families in the villas will be gifted with a scrapbook full of premade pages for their photos, thanks to a project from another Disney fan website. Also chatted with several wish families in the park, but none from this thread.

Happy Day, All!

Amber -what sweet pictures.Surgery is never fun but thank goodness this one was for a happy reason! Congratulations!

Thanks Friends!! For all your sweet comments.

I'm so glad I have you all in my life!

Wouldn't it be great if some day we could have a Wish Trippers reunion--really I guess it would be "union" since it would be our first time meeting :)

I love to take pictures. I'm a Photographer by trade so I can't imagine not having a camera with me at ALL times. It's my "American Express" --I never leave home without it ;-)

I've often thought that the nurses and doctors must think I'm nuts for documenting this whole journey with photos. As tough as it has been I don't want to forget it. If you've ever checked out my blog I journal my life too.

The way I see it, this wild ride we've been on is a part of who I am now and especially who Sebastian is. We've learned and we've grown. I'm sure ya'll can relate to how facing illness can change you.

One of my favorite quotes that I think of often is from the author of Winnie the Pooh A.A. Milne...

“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”

p.s. Linda thanks so much for the post cards you sent! The kids were delighted. Two and a half months and we'll be on our way!

p.p.s. I bought the kids Halloween Costumes...Buzz (of course!) for Sebastian, Cinderella for Siennah and I found the most perfect Tinkerbelle costume in size 0-3 months for Savannah. You know I'll be posting pictures of those too :)
