Click on User CP in the upper left of the dark blue border on the top. This will immediately show you all the threads you subscribe to that have new posts. Then click on List Subscriptions on the left menu on the side. This will help you quickly find any other threads that do not have new posts but that you want to see anyway.

This has helped me save time and keep in touch.

This is where some of you say, "But I thought Bill was out of touch."

Jonah's speech therapist is already working on making him communication cards for him to take to disney with us so we don't have to tote the "computer" . I think she is more excited then I am. She talks to him about it in just about every session. He gets excited when she shows him a picture of donald duck :hyper: When she gets them done she and the ot are going to work together and him being able to hand the card to the character or cm. Hopefully with so much time to work on it he'll be a pro before we go.

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride isn't there anymore, it was turned into a cute Winnie the Pooh ride. Sorry! :(

wow...you guys have been busy! Sorry i've been mia....i live in iowa and we are dealing with a lot of flooding. Luckily my town is starting to dry out, unfortunately there are still some places that won't have there river cresting until next week! As far as my house, we are dry. My two grandmothers live in town and one had 4 feet of water the other had 18-24 inches in her basement. :headache: So, we've been helping then with the clean-up.

I love your guys lists!!!!!!! Queenie is right...Mr. Toad's is gone....but you can ride Pooh in it's spot if you want. There is a spot in the beginning of the ride where you can see Mr. Toad handing over the "deed" to Pooh. I love hearing about your plans!

Bill....great job on all the posts....so much info! I think we'll be in withdrawal with you gone this week!!

May God bless you and your family in the midst of all the flooding in Iowa. I thought of my Granny (78) and my Grandma (89) who both are still living--and all the treasures that would be lost if either of their houses ever flooded. :( I will say prayers for you!!

I'll be out of town for a few days this week, too, and I'm glad because I would be having withdrawals from Bill's posts as well!! Y'all keep those top ten lists a-comin'!! They are too fun to read!!!

Those are great Top Ten Lists. Thank you. Keep them coming, even if you have to go to "my second to 10 would be..."

You can learn a lot about folks by their top choices. This is fun.

Aly,
I am envious of your stay at AK. That would definitely be my favorite resort too. It would be great to look out in the morning and see giraffes. That does not happen in my neighborhood. It is also great at GKTW to look out in the morning and see all the Wish Trip Kids. Come to think of it, that was a highlight of my trip, meeting all those wonderful, heroic kids during the best week of their life so far.

You picked some pretty great intense rides. Fast Track, Mission Space intense version and Space Mountain are right up there. For those going to US/ IOA and SW, Dueling Dragons, Hulk and Kraken are VERY intense.

Bex,
You trip sounds like my style with lots of time spent watching kids smile and be kids. I thought Winnie the Pooh was awesome, as well as Peter Pan, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Buzz Light Year, E.T. and Cat in the Hat. Fun is better when seen through the eyes of a child.

If you haven't read the trip report from Iluvmickeymouse! check it out. It is really great.

Sorry to hear about the Iowa flooding. All those folks are in our prayers.

Signing off until next weekend. Keep the post and lists coming. When you find a cool thread elsewhere on the boards, please share it by pasting the link in a post.

Bless Y'all

Bill

is there a list of rides where kids can sit in parents lap? Jonah's in a wheelchair but if we could hold him on some rides and be able to enjoy them all together that would be great, instead of having to take turns riding with in a wheelchair accessible car

Hi everyone ~
I'm just checking in to let you all know I'm still here. I haven't posted in a while because everytime I post, I go back and read it and think I sound weird.
"Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get me.";)
Right now, we're in a holding pattern. We have our dates - Dec. 13-19 - but that's all we know.
Tuesday is officially 180 days before our trip so I can start making my ADR's, so I guess I'd better start looking over where we want to eat and when. Our Wish volunteers said Ali would get an appt at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but some other things that they had told us turned out to be not so accurate, so I'm going to call and make her an appt on my own. Just to be sure.
I love that everyone else here is as excited and obsessed as I am. Six months to go and I am setting outfits aside and buying autograph books and everything.
Hope all is well with everyone!
Wishing everyone Peace, Love and Mickey Mouse (see that's one of those weird things I'll regret later )
Misty

Hmm, not sure if there is a comprehensive list, but any ride without height requirements allows for lap sitting to the best of my knowledge. I used to work Fantasyland attractions and we allow lap sitting on all of our rides. The only stipulation is that the child must be under whatever the restraint is (seatbelt, lapbar, etc.) Also, a wheelchair accessible car is more the exception than the norm. In Fantasyland only IASW and Pooh have wheelchair accessible cars. Basically, the older the park, the older the rides, and the least likely they are to have an accessible car or accessible standby line.

We held Alize on Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Kilimanjaro Safari. The accessible boat on Small World was big enough for everyone. Karen

There are some links to threads in the disABILITIES FAQs thread that might be of interest to you or your child's speech therapist. (The FAQs thread is near the top of the disABILITIES Board or follow the link in my signature).
In post #3 of that thread, there are some links to threads about Communication Devices/Pages and PECs that might be helpful.

I didn't go back to see how old/big your child is, but that would be a big deciding factor. When our DD was little, we held her on anything without warnings. When she got larger, we sat her next to us on the seat, between DH and I, if it was possible to get 3 people in a seat.

Here's a link to a page from allearsnet.com that shows pictures of the ride cars for many attractions. Seeing them might help you decide which you can comfortably hold your child on.

You would not be able to ride with your child on your lap for any rides with warnings because each person needs their own restraint.
You can look at the park maps for the attractions with warnings - they are marked with a red triangle on the map and also on a sign at the entrance to the queue.
For Epcot here are the attractions with warnings:
  • Mission Space
  • Test Track
For Magic Kingdom:
  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Tomorrowland Indy Speedway
  • Space Mountain
For Disney Studio
  • Star Tours
  • Rock N Roller Coaster
  • Tower of Terror
For Animal Kingdom:
  • Kilimanjaro Safari
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Expedition Everest
  • Primeval Whirl
  • Dinosaur

My five year old son has long outgrown strollers but i know he will need one there as he gets tired in places like this.I am trying to figure out if we should bring our own small fold up, umbrella type stroller or should we do the rentals there. Those things seem so big and bulky.Does anyone know how they are to push? I am also wondering if maybe we should just get a double rental, Anyone with good pros and cons of renting vs. bringing your own???
A 5 yr old in a small umbrella stroller is going to be hard to push. The regular (made for smaller kids) umbrella strollers have small tires and the higher the weight in them, the harder they are to push. I've also seen larger kids in the small umbrella whose feet kept rubbing on the tires, making it even harder to push.
Here is a picture of the single size WDW rental strollers. The double strollers are the same, only twice as wide.
Watching people push the strollers, they seem very easy to push. I have seen some pretty large kids in them, as big as a 12 yr old in a double stroller.
Also, I saw a family with 3 kids in a double stroller at times on the TV show John and Kate Plus 8. The show is about a family that has 8yr old twins and (I think) 3 yr old sextuplets. In one section, the mom was pushing one of the WDW double strollers down main street with several of her kids in it. She kept commenting about how the stroller 'pushes like a dream' even with a whole lot of kids in it and she wanted to know how she could get one of those strollers for herself.
