where could I find out about getting special t shirts for the kids and a special wish child shirt for our trip to disney?

Each of your kids will be given 2 t-shirts at the Village. Your wish kid will have a button to wear that identifies them as a wish kid.

They don't sell them anywhere. They are only for the 'WISH' families.

You could go to the Creative DISigns board here on DIS and see if someone would design a shirt for you. I made shirts for our kids for each day of the week and they loved them.

I think what Sue is saying is that the atual identifiable WISH shirts are given out vs. being sold if you were wanting a shirt that addressed the fact that you are on a wish trip and identified the wish child. I would hope a vendor wouldn't make such a shirt since the reason they aren't sold is to prevent people without a child on a wish trip from getting the special perks that come only during the wish trip. I've heard, sadly, of those who took a wish-trip and then came back several times afterward wearing the shirts and button after that once-in-a-lifetime trip was over. There needs to be a way for castmembers to know that the child *is* on a wish trip so they can give them the special attention they deserve. Wearing the shirts provided and the buttons should do that...if you were looking for other type matching shirts though I have gotten some personalized at disney shopping. They came out really nice- we wore them on our last DCL cruise. I can't remember what wording I put on, but something like "Making Magic with Disney Cruise Line" and then the characters were above that holding surfboards. Maybe something like..."having a magical WISH with...child's name....? ---Kathy

Thank you. That's what I meant, but I didn't have a lot of time when I posted. Re-reading what I wrote, I don't sound very friendly. What Kathy wrote was what I meant though.

They used to have very nice MAW buttons that you would see the WISH family wearing. I have read about people going back with those buttons on several trips afterward and getting the special perks at the parks that come with a once in a lifetime WISH trip. People rationalized it by saying that their child still had the condition that they qualified them for the trip, so they could not see a reason why they should not wear the pin and shirt on all their trips.
On recent trips, we noticed a change in the pins. They are more 'generic' looking and we've noticed different color backrounds on the pins different times we are there. My guess is that they are printing up pins specifically for the week the pin is 'valid' with the color being a guide for the CMs of what pins are for that week. My guess anyway.

But, the idea of making some special shirts for your special trip is a good one. I like Kathy's ideas. They sound cute and I know some of the ones like jennydep mentioned were very nice.

When we were there in May, Mickey's button had the dates on it for our week. So if CM's want to, they can look at those and see if someone is abusing the policy. The GAC for "front of the line" also has the dates on it.

Each Wish Foundation has a different logo? I belong to The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. We have different logo and they are not sold. they are given to the famiies. There are different colored shirts and styles, but they have The Children's Wish Foundation on them.

We have had children go back a second time, but because of illness and missing part of their wish....

The buttons we saw on different trips were "Make a Wish" buttons that all looked the same, but different colors. There may have been a date too, like jennydep mentioned, but I didn't notice that.
In the 'way past' the buttons had a multicolored Make a Wish logo on them.

And the situation I am talking about where people went back a second or third time and using the Make a Wish button were not doing it under the sponsorship of their Wish Foundation like you are talking about. They wrote that they were going back on their own and could not see any reason why they should not use the pin on every trip.

I agree with you. I is dishonest and teaches our children how to be deceitful. It is a special time and we look forward to going. All I have ended up doing is to buy a few shirts that have disney characters on them for the two girls. There will be so much magic that they wont even think about a shirt with their names on it. It is a great opportunity for our daughter and her sisters and brothers to have fun and to have dreams fulfilled. The biggest dream is just having the chance to go.. I am sure we will all be blessed.

I do remember seeing some kids with Make a Wish buttons on in addition to the GKTW Village buttons. When we went the only colors for the Village buttons was pink for girls and blue for boys.

It angers me to hear people using the privileges of their wish trip over and over. I will admit we are going to wait quite a while to go back to Disney. Not only because we need to save up the money, but our kids need time to somewhat forget that we didn't wait in any lines last time.

Hi! We just got back from my daughters Make-a-wish Trip late October. She was given a Pink GKTW button and did have the date for the week. We were not given a MAW pin from our local branch, she only had the GKTW pin. Did other people get pins from their MAW chapter? I do have to say we had a lovely week but no-one seemed to really notice her GKTW button most days. I rememebr she wore a birthday pin a few years ago when we were there for her Birthday and they seemed to pay more attention to that then the GKTW button which I found odd. Maybe because she did not have a MAW pin.

my daughter didnt get anything from our maw chapter. only a letter with the itinerary. I have heard that other people have actually gotten boxes filled with goodies and a pin etc. We didnt, I am a little bummed. Has anyone gotten other items from their chapter?

We went through our local organization, not MAW. Michaela got a T-shirt with the Indiana Children's Wish Fund logo on it and one of their buttons. That was it. I think it just varies from MAW chapter to chapter. I've read about fantastic send off parties and others who got nothing extra. It'll be great even without the extras. Your trip will be beyond belief!!!!

It does depend on the chapter, and on the individuals who are the (for want of a better name) wish granters... the people that meet with the family.

My boss does that - and he really does a fantastic job - he and his wife always look for something a little special for the child to tie in with the wish.
