We cruised on the Wish in late July on it’s first 4 night cruise and we had just an amazing time!

Some background on our cruising experiences, this was our 11th Disney cruise (first Platinum trip) and we’ve been on board all the other ships at least twice. We’ve also been on 2 Royal Caribbean and 1 Princess cruise, so we’ve been on the seas a while (Not to mention I’m a retire Navy sailor, but those cruises were certainly NO fun 🤣). We are not new to the cruising game and were excited based on the pics we saw of the Wish as I really wanted Disney to try some new directions.

For this cruise, we went concierge (this was our 2nd time doing this as we’ve done it B2B on the Dream before) and we had one of the smaller concierge rooms. So we got to board very quickly and our mouths just hit the floor from first walking into the Grand Hall and exploring the rest of the ship. The artwork, the decor and design of it all was just really well done. The pictures and videos dont really do it justice. When you start roaming around and hit the Bayou lounge on that same deck, it just gets better. So beautiful. We couldn’t figure out where we wanted to go hangout first! We skipped the concierge welcome lunch and just spent the first hour or so exploring everything we could, then settled in for lunch at the Marcelina Market, which is just another beautiful space to eat, even if the food there is really about the same as Cabanas. The real food standout tho are the BBQ and Cantina. The food there is SERIOUSLY good! Just watch out on the cut of the brisket you get as my wife got a relatively dry cut while mine was very juicy and tasty.

We found the diffferent layout of the ship to really not be a hinderance at all, bc it kinda felt like the ways a few other cruise lines have their ships laid out. So yes, we did get lost a few times, but it was all in fun bc we’d find somewhere or a path we hadn’t gone before. It does make sense and the changes to the layout of the elevators isnt bad at all, since they are not too far forward or aft, so i didnt miss having them in the middle of the ship at all. That said, the elevators did have issues with those buttons…they need some work there as they were often tricky to get them activate. Hopefully they’ve resolved that by now.

The concierge lounge is HUGE compared to all the rest of the ships, but needed of course with much more concierge rooms. It’s quite nice two, with two decks of outside space and a full bar now, and a smoothie bar outside. The pool situation is two hot tubs and some foot wading area where you sit in chairs that have water flowing on them (I didnt care for this much). The concierge team is a great as ever. Great food and free happy hours in the evenings still on point In there.

The Aquamouse, I thought was interesting, but not as fun as it was billed. The first half is kinda boring as you ride up a hill on the raft, watching cartoons on the screen and getting squirted with water at each screen, which was kinda annoying. Once you get to the 2nd half tho, i thought that part was more fun than the Aquaduck. The whole ride should be more like that. The lines got kinda long sometimes, but they moved pretty quickly and some people said they saw times Where it broke down, but i never saw it not working when it was supposed to be.

The pool situation throughout the ship is not bad at all. I’m not a fan of the wading depth pools, but having them more spread out was nice to keep all the crowding down a bit. The adult section pool is really nice, but small and tends to stay crowded most of the day. We hit it pretty early on our first day and experienced it just with us two only in it and when you get rare opportunities like that, you can really enjoy it. Most of the time tho, people soup in there. The only adult hotub is around the corner for some reason, but nice to have it separated from the kids at least. I thought the adult section had plenty of nice seating if you wanted to sit in the sun, not so much if you wanted shade tho.

The MDR restaurants are themed amazingly! It was funny bc for me, I was most looking forward to the Marvel restaurant and least looking forward to Arendalle as I’m not a big Frozen fan, but after going, the Arendalle restaurant and show was by far my favorite dining experience. Well we were lucky (Maybe more concierge treatment than luck) to get a table right next to the stage and watched an AMAZING performance that was just a blast. Beware tho that there are plenty of tables in the restaurant unfortunately where you really cant see too well what’s going on and that was a big negative for a lot of people. Maybe Disney should have had screens or designed the restaurant better. As for Marvel, I sound the theming amazing but the show really boring. I was really disappointed with that one. The 1923 restaurant was really nicely themed as well, but no show Or anything.

The Star Wars lounge was really cool, but a bit on the smaller side. And yes, first couple days a reservation was needed, but by the last couple days you could walk right in. The drinks are good, if a bit pricey. never saw anyone get that $5,000 drink tho.

So the ship was not perfect tho, There are some definete issues. The storage space in the rooms, moving to more shelf than drawers space was just a confusing move on their part. The elevators and those buttons need some fixing, the deck 4 walking track…yeah that’s gone and that is a HUGE negative for this ship. I have no idea why they designed it to go away here, but this was just a poor move as many enjoy walking and running around on that deck. As I mentioned for Marvel and Arendalle, they need some improvements there.

This was just an amazing vacation for us. We got to enjoy a new ship, got to hang our with one of our favorite youtube family and watch their vow renewal, which i think was the first they’ve had on the Wish, and have a great time on Castaway Cay! If you have a cruise set and are worried, I dont think you should be as the ship is amazing. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I honestly dont understand why some folks dont like it. It’s different, but in a spectacular way. The Disney magic is alive and well on this ship!

Thanks for the review, shipmate. We were on the next cruise and loved it as well. Where was the cool portrait that had (I assume) your kids' faces in it?

I love going to sea and not having to work 20 hour days! :D

That was not my kids in that portrait, it was near the BBB were they had pictures of kids and families dressed up like that.
