Wish Maiden Voyage Delayed

We are on the last 4 day in August before the kids go back to school (august 15-19). 50% off is so tempting but I really wanted to be on the wish during inaugural season and trying hard NOT to pull kids out of school again next year for a week (because I'm gonna do it in 2023 and possibly for a disney trip in october and league of legends world championships in nov so it really isn't an option). I am trying to think through how I would feel if we wound up getting bumped because again, really wanted inaugural season and going during the school year just isn't a thing for us. too many other things lined up.

As of now, your cruise isn't affected. It's only the first 12 sailings through July 18. Unless the shipyard has seriously underestimated how much more time they need, you should be good to go in August. I get it, though. We did the Fantasy and Dream during the inaugural sailings and were on the inaugural Magic sailing in Norway - it is really fun to be on a brand new ship or new itinerary! Typically they have special merch, too!

Are all of the Disney Wish sailings booked? I just looked to see what's available and I didn't see any sailings. I even checked 2023

Wish bookings are temporarily down until February 8th while Disney processes all of the changes. That gives affected guests a chance to rebook before the other summer sailings fill up, too.

Now I'm very relieved that the cruise over my birthday was out of my price range before booking opened!!

As it stands now, I'll be on the 11th sailing for my late August trip!!! And I'm booked at WDW for afterwards, so absolute worst-case scenario I'll just extend that trip.

So we booked the 6/17 and 9/5 Wish sailings. Sad that the June sailing is off but look forward to using that 50% discount on either a holiday sailing or a European cruise next summer.

I am on the DVC and while it's nice they are automatically rebooking, I have a trip to Maine during the new time with airfare already booked : ( I wonder how they are handling the DVC points and whether they are also discounting them?

Yes, it will be a 50% discount on the DVC Charter as well. I received an email from DCL about the DVC Charter a little while ago.

Since you were booked on the exclusive Disney Vacation Club cruise, we will automatically shift your reservation to the new Member sail date, July 19, 2022, at a 50 percent discount. If you are unable to move to this new date, you will have the option of either a 50 percent discount on a future cruise departing by December 31, 2023, with all reservation points and monies applied to that future cruise, or a full refund, including reimbursement of any cash and/or the return of any reservation points used for your reservation.

Once you have decided how you would prefer to move forward with your reservation (cruise discount or refund), we ask that you please e-mail Members@disneyvacationclub.com by February 19 with your name, Member number and your preferred option. Please note Points returned to a 2021 Use Year will be moved to a 2022 Use Year before expiring if not used.

Omicron at the shipyard in Germany.

I read they are giving 50% of the points back if you re-book. DFB posted that. I'd still confirm with Disney.

I wouldn't get too excited about the 50% discount on future cruises until you work through all the restrictions they put on it (for example, can't change who's going). We've been trying to work something out since our May 2020 COVID cruise got cancelled and its been many, many hours on hold with DCL and DVC and new hurdles at every turn.

I hope they handle this better but given the poor communication (we're four months out from first sailing and you just communicated today that there's a delay- well, all those other plans that Disney wants me to make well in advance now need to change)....

Omicron was just a thing about 6 weeks ago, not sure exactly when it ran through Europe. This is completely understandable to have just found out very recently that because of a bunch of unplanned absences that the ship just didn't progress as expected. Then they had to plan a feasible new date, what to do with the affected sailings, a bunch of other dominos that needed to fall.

I'm on June 20. It fit well into summer between kids camps and obligations. Plus we really wanted concierge. Now i believe concierge is sold out on all the wish voyages..so what then? plus airfare i have to move around. What an unfun experience. 6 weeks is a big miss!! I was on MV for Fantasy and they moved it UP a week!

Wow this came so close to our July 25th cruise, but so far, it has not been affected by this. Any further delays, and we’ll be swept aside too...it sucks, but it’s a risk we all took in booking the first sets of cruises, when there could very well be delays…

I feel this! It’s like I understand but still now it’s super frustrating to go from opening day prices to not & early dining to probably late dining when it’s not our fault..

We literally have 1 option we can cruise before school starts so here’s to hoping we can snag it on the 8th.

The Magic was delayed twice!! We had to arrange airfare 3 different times but back then DCL paid for the airline change fees.

I just paid off the Wish MV this morning! Actually the July dates work better for me as I watch our grandkids and now don't have to worry about them getting childcare as DD is a teacher and will be off in the summer. I am cruising with a friend and I hope the new date works for her. Waiting to hear back from her now. What if someone can't do the new date...what is DCL doing about that. Will they allow a name change then?

yeah thats what i meant by trying to think through how I would feel if in the case where there was another delay.

(the cruise in 2023 we are pulling the kids out of school for is the norway fjord one btw!)

i really think that inaugural would win out for me over $$. the merch, the magic, the fact its a kind of moment/not always thing....

We were on the July 4th - July 8th sailing, bundled with 7 days at Walt Disney World. Maybe we can switched to 7 day Fantasy that actually embarks on the exact same day. Or we can use the 50% cruise credit for an Alaskan sailings. Mmmmmm decisions descisions.

For once I'm not mad at Covid- that 50% off is NICE!
I’m booked on a B2B with the DVC sailing and the one after it so now I have two 50% offs which with our family of 5 will be a big discount!! Unfortunately we won’t be able to shift to the new dates for the DVC because we have trip to Hawaii already booked for the same dates. We make look at one of the more exciting Europe itineraries out of Europe instead for summer 2023.
