Wish for first Disney cruise (more stable that Fantasy)?

Thanks everyone for the input! We decided to just take the plunge and book the Wish – and, actually, friends are going to join us in an adjoining cabin. The thought process is we'll focus on the Wish-specific activities for this trip and, if we fall in love with DCL, we can explore the other amenities and ports later.

That said, for a first time cruiser, do you think Palo is a must do? We're foodies so the idea is intriguing, but we have no Castaway status and aren't booking a Concierge room, so I suspect we won't have much luck snagging a reservation.

We booked Palo brunch on our trip in Nov and I actually regretted it for the first time ever.

The food options on the Wish (even quick service) are plentiful. If I could go back and change one thing, I would have skipped brunch as I felt the time on the ship was already limited and we could have used that time in other ways.

Since you've never sailed on DCL before, I would encourage you to skip Palo/Enchante and stick to the main dining rooms since this is your first time on a Disney Cruise. Palo is on all 5 ships. Easy to experience this one in the future.

I usually do brunch instead of dinner, because if we skip a Main Dining Room, I am still paying for 2 meals even though I am physically paying for just one. Gotta get the most bang for my buck. I also dislike the new "Pre Fixe or A La Carte" menu for dinner. I like that everything is included for Brunch without having to look at prices.

We had plenty of motion on the Wish last September, on the cruise that was extended and went out into the Atlantic to avoid Hurricane Ian. Particularly at night when the ship was moving more quickly, we felt a lot of motion in our cabin (we were up high in a concierge cabin, maybe lower down closer to the center of rotation would have been better on this score). Our daughter threw up multiple times at night- not fun! And there were times when the pools were sloshing from side to side big time. So I do not think the degree of stabilization is a differentiating factor between the Wish and Fantasy.
I was on the Fantasy sailing that overlapped with your Wish sailing, so we were in similar seas. Man, those were rough seas! My poor mother who gets motion sick was miserable.

Just got off the Wish and we only really felt the ship rocking the last night. That said, I don’t think the Fantasy would be any better or worse. It’s the weather and the seas that make the difference.
