Wish food could be higher quality at disney

I frequent DL as a local. While I agree that the CS food is, in general, WAY better than at WDW, I'm fairly certain that the ACTUAL food items aren't any different, we just have more fresh produce in CA and better (IMO) meat suppliers here vs the east coast. I've lived on both coasts and the produce freshness and availability and meat quality is far better in CA overall.

However, with the exception of Napa Rose, none of the restaurants are serving the kind of food the OP is after. It's still supplied by the likes of Sysco.

We have been to DL a few times and love their food options. I don't understand why they can't do better at the MK with their food. It is obviously possible to get more/better food like they do at DL. This is one of the things that really bothers me about MK.

It really isn't always possible. Produce suffers from long delivery times and FL honestly doesn't have a large enough farming industry to provide varied, fresh produce the way CA does. Most produce is shipped into FL so it simply cannot be as fresh as what we get here.

In addition, meat comes from large industrial suppliers, and geography determines where your meats come from. A lot of poultry in CA comes from Foster Farms, which is much better quality (again, IMO) than Tyson or Perdue. However, you will never get Foster Farms chicken on the east coast. It is what it is. CA also has some really great beef suppliers (Harris Ranch, specifically). You won't get that kind of quality en masse in FL. You would need to pay $$$ for something like Harris Ranch beef in FL. You might find it in the Signature restaurants in WDW, but the burger patties won't be that. However, Harris Ranch is the beef supplier for In N Out burger, so they definitely CAN provide on a large scale, and for a low cost, but one of the "things" about In N Out is that NOTHING is ever frozen. So, this is why you don't see In N Out locations nationwide. Freezing lowers food quality and they will not budge on that aspect of their operations, and do not believe there are similar quality beef suppliers nationwide to draw from.

Despite the repeated menu items across many quick serve, they re are plenty of choices for sit downs. My BIGGEST complaint is... TOO MUCH SALT! ugh!

I was actually talking about the variety of foods that DL has compared to MK. Something like the cafeteria style with fried chicken that their Plaza Inn would be a nice addition. And places like Cafe Orleans. Something to give us more of a variety that is not burgers, nuggets, etc. The variety of good counter service restaurants at MK is lacking. especially compared to DL. And I don't buy the excuse about good produce and meat. Stuff gets shipped in a day or 2 in this Country and meat freezes very well. Omaha Steaks is a great example of quality beef that has been frozen. Great chefs have proven that if you know what you are doing, you can make a great meal out of frozen items. And again, I am really referring to the variety of offerings at MK. They are more then able to provide a variety of foods at DL and Epcot, I don't see how MK should be any different.

Ah, understood. I agree with that, but there isn't much of an incentive to offer variety at MK since people there are basically a captive audience, whereas at DL, there are numerous other options a stone's throw away. DL has to incentivize staying in the park to eat somehow.

And I SO miss Plaza Inn fried chicken. That will be my first meal when DL reopens, IF they open Plaza Inn (which I fear they won't since you can't do mobile order there).

They used to - there were places known as "The Crystal Palace" and "Hollywood & Vine" :) ... before the bean counters discovered the much higher margins as a fixed price buffet.
