WISH Challenge Never-Give-Up November chat thread!

How can it NOT be a great Friday when you get to see cute things like this??!!

So sorry that I don't have the time currently to be more around to chat! But I am very happy to see so many people posting! I am wondering whether the chat thread might not be easier to keep up with as it is easier to take part in an informal chat when one is struggling than in any competition type month.

I still love all the quotes and I think this is a perfect element to keep the chat from just withering away! I liked the last one, too. At first I felt a bit negative about it, I always react a bit negative to anything that implies that I should not enjoy my food. I really love good food, especially high quality food. But I think this is not what the quote is about. It is about being conscious about food in my opinion. And this is something I really have improved in over the last few months! The upcoming vacation will be the test of how much it has become natural to me already!

That is exactly what I was thinking! It was intended to be POSITIVE and about NOT feeling deprived.... but also understanding that food and food choices are not about rewards or punishment, but about health, energy, etc. It is POWERFUL for me to know that my food choices can change my health, my energy level, and my waist line!

And the best news is that I stepped on the scale today and despite not really tracking over the last 5 days and being scared to even face the scale, I dropped nearly a pound. :confused3 I am starting to think that I am indeed eating too little... The two times in the last months when I had a weekend where I splurged on nearly all my weekly points were both weeks with nice losses. I think when I come back from vacation I will try to eat all my weekly points for a few weeks and see what happens!

I have come to nearly the exact same conclusion lately! When I have a splurge day or two on the weekends, I usually end up DOWN for the week! It just shows me that I haven't been eating enough on those weeks when I thought I should lose but I don't. And by "splurge" I mean a treat or two or maybe a big meal and a cocktail.... not a crazy "food-a-palooza"!!:lmao:

I am leaving on Sunday, not sure I will be able to pop in before. But I might send you a virtual postcard while away! :goodvibes I will miss you, and popping in thanks to a hotel wifi will help me to stay on track while vacationing!

You will definitely be missed!! Enjoy your trip and be ready to share pictures and stories!!

********************

Morning all! Here at work today, but I am working the office and there is a HUGE all-school Veterans program going on right now, so EVERYONE is there and things are really quiet in the office right now.... but of course the morning was CRAZZZYYYYY!

I am down just a little bit more again this week....:thumbsup2.... need less to say that I am DELIGHTED to be heading in the RIGHT DIRECTION before the holidays approach! I've been STRUGGLING for most of this year to get back BELOW my maintenance goal and I am finally there by more than a pound. If I can keep some control over T.giving, I stand a chance to be back near 130 by Christmas! That really would make me happy.... but I'd be delighted to just stay where I am for now!

I am DEFINITELY feeling better today. The throat seemed to be getting worse during the night (I kept waking up trying to swallow) and I attribute my improvement to some decent sleep plus lemon and ginger in my tea and smoothies.

That being said, DD's roommate is very ill. Started with flu symptom on about Tuesday and by Wednesday night she was vomiting. DD has been staying with a friend during the nights and avoiding her room as much as possible (while still being a good friend and texting her roommate to see if she needs anything...:) ).... but we are both hoping and praying that she avoids the illness and doesn't bring it home for T.giving!!!!

Off to check the attendance report..... I really like this sub job! Much more up my alley to work with phones and computers rather than kids!:lmao: ...............P

Hi all!

Happy Friday! I posted once and have been lurking ever since, but I decided to join in today after reading about Flossbolna's loss even on weeks using all weekly points. Congrats! That's exciting! And it's also encouraging for me. I JUST joined WW last week and am trying to figure it all out and get in my new routine.

Two weeks ago, I took DH and my cat (yes, I am a crazy cat lady) to get Christmas pictures done, and when I saw the pictures I was horrified! :scared1: We joined a gym the next week and I started WW.

But I have been concerned with the weekly points and eating my activity pts, etc. Due to two pre-holiday parties last weekend, I did not track two dinners which had me worried, but I weighed in today and had lost 3 lbs! :cool1: So anyway, thanks for sharing-- it has me encouraged-- as do the quotes!

This weekend, however, will really put me to the test.... we leave for WDW for the weekend in 2 hrs.... But, I remain encouraged that some treats this weekend won't derail my progress!

so much about here I don't know that I have time to type up all the replies in my head!

Magdalene -- have WONDERFUL vacation!!

Lady Marie -- :welcome: and I hope you having a great time this weekend!

Pamela -- congrats for being under your maintenance goal! :yay:

Hi everyone. Hope you are all having a good month. I kinda slipped to MIA status. ... Then my own Dr.(or NP) appointment will be in afternoon. I then will have lab orders to get done. Maybe from now on I'll see if they can write them and I can go before the refills are out and save the co pay of another appointment after for her to tell me nothing has changed. That irks me. :rolleyes2 I also think she will want to increase Metformin because I doubt my A1C has dropped much based on the occasional fasting glucose I remember to take in mornings.

Not sure where weight is running haven't weighed in awhile. I'm thinking I'm up but my one jeans that finally fit decently again are still fine.

hope your brother has a speedy recovery! I slip into MIA status too...it happens but we come back and that says something big!

how did your appt go? My endocrinologist always prints out my labs for the next appointment (6 months later) when I leave the appointment. I would definitely ask her to do that! Or fax in the lab orders to the lab two weeks before your appointment date. That is not an unreasonable request. I am switching from metformin to Victoza for my insulin resistance. I remember you used to do a shot, were on Victoza? if you don't mind me asking. my DD was on it for a while and said it hurt her stomach something awful, not the shot itself by her actual stomach. I don't mind doing a shot, I already do a dailiy shot for my growth hormone replacement. jw what your experience might have been. My endo says it may help with my weight loss too, which has stalled all year. for reference she allows up to 2000 mg of metformin daily, I wonder if increasing your dose might help kick start it for you? just brainstorming here with you :thumbsup2

that your jeans fit good is an excellent sign!! I have not lost weight this year, but I have gone down a jeans size! :woohoo:

Morning all! Sore throat and swollen glands are NOT improving. Any homemade remedies that you swear by??? If it was just a scratchy throat I wouldn't worry.... but the swollen glands are super tender. I CANNOT still be sick next week!!!!!!!

I have a friend who is a pharmacy tech and she recommended this product to me. I have bought it but haven't had a need to take it yet to see for myself. She swears by it

OMG I love  LOVE your freezer inventory idea!!! GENIUS! I'm doing this! my freezer will be delivered next wed. the inventory is great for moms who forget what's in there and family who needs to know when dinner is up to them :thumbsup2

I can't believe this week is coming to a close. DD college visit on Monday was fun and went well, but she is not sold yet. We have another visit tomorrow. Next week is going to be B.U.S.Y for all of us! we can stick together and report back our good choices made!

Have a great weekend at WDW! And I am so happy to hear that I inspired you to post! I used to be more of a lurker on the predecessor of these threads and I find that actually taking an active part in these threads has been so good for me!

There are quite a few people who are doing WW, so feel free to ask any questions! My first tip would be: Even if you splurge for an event, try to track it! Tracking is really key to a constant weight loss and the sooner you get used to it, the better it will be for you! And with that I need to track my day today as well!

Thanks for all the good wishes for my vacation! I am done with work, had a mani and a pedi (have wonderful sparkly dark red nails that I could never wear at work ;)) and now need to concentrate on packing tonight before tomorrow brings more beautification appointments for hair and eyebrow waxing. Why do I always feel the need to look my best on vacation??? :confused3 I guess because it gives me a justification to splurge on stuff like that! :goodvibes

I didn't ask because sadly my office will no longer be taking my insurance next year. I'll get my labs done but will be switching Dr.s before next one. I found an office that has peds and ob/gyn(well I only need the gyn portion currently) very new office. Will see how it is. I never had shots so you must be thinking of somebody else. I've been on Metformin a year or so due to elevated A1C but no doubt I have some insulin resistance. Could never get a Dr. to look into it or PCOS that I suspect has caused me troubles a while. Cycles pretty regular 30-35 days usually but in past I've had some go 90-150.

So glad you are joining us!! And congrats on joining WW! There are a few of us here who follow the plan, so there is talk of PointsPlus Values (PPV) and such often enough.

Big BRAVO on the three pounds lost so far.... and hopefully you can stay somewhat on track while at WDW! Have fun!

It looks promising!! Gonna call my naturopath and ask about it!

OMG I love  LOVE your freezer inventory idea!!! GENIUS! I'm doing this! my freezer will be delivered next wed. the inventory is great for moms who forget what's in there and family who needs to know when dinner is up to them :thumbsup2

It's pretty easy to do if you routinely have the same items in there. I routinely have some all-natural frozen pizzas, veggie burgers, whole chickens, pork tenderloins, veggie broth, chicken broth, soups.... so I started by typing up a regular list and just penciling in individual quantities.... but I also left blank lines for "write-ins"..... things I don't often or usually buy but are in the freezer and unusual leftovers (like the fact that I STILL have the top tier of DD's graduation cake from July of 2013 in there!!).

I can't believe this week is coming to a close. DD college visit on Monday was fun and went well, but she is not sold yet. We have another visit tomorrow. Next week is going to be B.U.S.Y for all of us! we can stick together and report back our good choices made!

I agree that it will be a bit nutty for us all! I plan to stay ON PLAN and ON TRACK until Thursday arrives! No sense in jumping off the wagon while it is rolling in the right direction!!!!!:rotfl:

Because when you look better you feel better and when you feel better you have MORE FUN! Plus you want to look good for all the pictures, right???

Sorry about the insurance change up. We have to change chiropractors for the same reason.

Evening all!! Busy, busy day at school, but it is done and it is FRIDAY and I am home..... for a few minutes...:rotfl:

DH drove DS to school for the 5pm production call. I will head out about 6:25 to go see the show tonight.... then it will be a lot of waiting around for the cast and crew to finish up and then I am driving DS and some other (unlicensed) friends to join the group at Friendly's for a post-production treat... which means I wait in the car with a cup of decaf and a book for about 90 minutes....:lmao: Ahhhh.... my glamorous life!!

Anyhoooo.... dinner is warming, cookies for the robotics fundraiser are baking, and DH will be back shortly so that we can eat!

TTY tomorrow.............P

Good morning all and HAPPY SATURDAY!! Time to rise and shine and be productive right? Unless, of course, this is a designated "lazy day" for you or if you are nursing a cold or flu! In that case.... .RELAX!

I'm up and moving! My parents have decided to come tonight to see the play at DS's school, so they will be here by 5pm! That means I need to CLEAN, make beds, etc! I was going to clean up in DD's room today anyhow, but now I need to be sure that I have two beds with clean sheets and a clean bathroom for them! Plus laundry and such.... so I see a busy active day for me! How about everyone else? Getting ready for a busy T.giving week? Traveling early for the holiday?? Or just chillin' and relaxin'??

I am meeting a woman in an hour to buy something from a FB yardsale group, so I will be dashing out for a bit, but other than that I will be home all day, so I'll have time to pop on again later to see how everyone is doing! Off to post today's motivation and then off to clean!................P

I'll be totally honest and say I WISH more of my days looked just like this.... but I give myself a pat on the back for the days that do! (And it's totally unrealistic any how because I don't see the words "go to work" there anywhere!!).................P

Pam, I guess work is only optional?? ;)

I am off on vacation very early tomorrow morning. And today I got the biggest surprise: I weighed in at exactly not being overweight anymore!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I made my vacation mini goal!!! What a great motivation booster to keep it up while I am away!!

Hey guys!

Sorry I've been MIA lately ... I've been in a bad place, but I think I'm starting to get out of it, which makes it a little easier for me to come by and chat.
Friday night, as I was eating my 4th or 5th cookie of the day ... I started to get this overwhelming guilt which made me feel pretty bad about myself. I know I shouldn't be eating the cookies, but I think the worst part there was how it made me feel about myself. Since the guilt wasn't helping at all, I decided right then that I shouldn't worry when I "break my diet." Yes, I want to eat healthier and lose some weight, but that's a lot less important than how I feel about myself. I'd rather eat the cookie and not feel like **** afterwards.
Yesterday I was eating cookies without as much of the guilt, which is better. I'm hoping that now I can focus on the fact that eating healthier is a good thing (and I'm not depriving myself), which will help me minimize the cookies - but if I have a cookie (or two) sometimes, it's not a bad thing, I just have to try to do a little better.

Today's breakfast was mini-pancakes, apple with cinnamon, a little whipped cream (I know, I know, but I think as long as I only have it on my pancakes and I only have a little, I'm okay), and some coffee with vanilla syrup. Added up to about 300 calories, which is where I like my breakfast to be. Lunch will be pizza and we may be going our for dinner with my Grandpa, so I have a little less control over those, but I'll try to have veggie pizza and limit myself to 1-2 pieces.

Bad news is, I didn't get out for a run this morning, and it's supposed to rain tomorrow. I had wanted to go out today, but just didn't feel up to it this morning. Hopefully I can get out Tuesday and Thursday for my 2 runs this week.

I've been skimming through posts, but haven't really had the attention span over the past few days to reply. I hope everyone's doing okay!

Have a great week, all!

Morning all! Here is you MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY quote! If you've been around a while this will look familiar. It is definitely one of my FAVORITES!

56da32e67c424b9e41e9727e33ac2453.jpg

Don't forget..... Thanksgiving is (for most of us) JUST ONE DAY.... not an excuse to start eating today and not stop until NEXT Monday!! You can still have a successful week!

I'll BBL to chat~!......................P

We are our own worst critics, aren't we?? That negative self-talk can really get in the way of success. Yes, a cookie or two isn't a reason to kick yourself to the curb.... especially if the rest of your eating has been clean and healthy.

Hope the weather holds for your runs. If I get in a walk today it will be on the TM, as it is POURING outside!!

Okay.... off to work!! BBL to chat!....................P

Thanks Pam for the great words today. You are right Thanksgiving is just one day. I had breakfast, packed my lunch and I am ready for the day.

It is raining down here but it is supposed to stop before I get home. Which is good so that I can walk the dog. Dh usually does it on the weekends but he was painting so I did the afternoon walk. I was lovely yesterday and this afternoon is supposed to be even nicer.

I have some costumes to work on this afternoon and then I hope to get out some quilting and get that worked on. Dh has a 7:30 meeting so he won't be home until at least 9.

My knee is bothering me again. It was really bothering me in June. When we went to Alaska it bothered me but was starting to feel better. Since Alaska it has been the best it has ever been in a while. On Saturday morning I woke up with it feeling like there is fluid in there. The walking I did on Sat night and Sun afternoon helped. It is still stiff but it doesn't feel like there is fluid anymore.

Off to get my day started.

Have a happy and healthy day.

happy Monday morning my friends!

Magdalene --- cyber high five!! CONGRATS on making your goal before vaca!!

Sarahdisney -- :welcome: back and I'm proud of you for changing your thinking first, that's key and a good reminder for me

Pamela -- let me know what your neuropath says about the viral supplement please

I had to skip the gym this morning for a phone appointment with my specialist, he's due to call in about 45 mins. I have a massage afterwards so I don't know honestly if i'll make it to the gym today. but I will definitely go tomorrow morning. I may just take my dog on a long walk to get some good steps in. I need to pace myself as the travel for the holidays will burn good and deep into my energy budget for the week

great reminder that Turkey day is just ONE day! I keep reminding myself of the inspirational post here that eating for my health is so much more rewarding then eating for taste or emotions. we have two family dinners to attend so my plan is teeny tiny portions

Sorry to hear that your knee is acting up again. Maybe it is an atmospheric thing. There is a LOT of severe weather going on in the U.S. right now.

Actually, it was my naturopath (although that it probably what you intended to say) and she wanted $75 for a phone consult so I declined. :furious: I'll admit she isn't MY naturopath, but my son's and we haven't seen her in a little while, but stilll.....:confused3

Try hard to pace yourself so you don't end up sick or feeling miserable by week's end!! A massage sounds GREAT right now!:thumbsup2

I am putting together my WRITTEN T.giving eating plan tomorrow. I'll share it if anyone is interested.

*****************

Day at work went by SO quickly!! Came home to no home phone and no internet and spent about 30 minutes on line with the service folks but the good news is that it is all up and running without a pricey service call!! But that's a half hour of my life gone!!:( Thankfully I had already peeled and chopped my veggies for dinner, so they made it into the oven to cook while I did the troubleshooting. And they are DELICIOUS! I made a combo of cauliflower, sweet potato, and carrots.... so yummy! Since DH got held up I don't have to feed him so I'm not making anything to go with the veggies and I'll eat them all myself! I had plenty of protein at breakfast and lunch, so no worries.

Off to finish my dinner!! TTY later or tomorrow.................P

I am going to heat up some food that dh brought home from work. He is up painting the bedroom. We need at least 1 wall done so that we can move our bed back in before ds2 comes home on Wed. The ceiling is done. I don't know what he is up to right now. I know that I have to make him a sandwich before he goes out to his meeting so that he can eat it on his way to the meeting.

Morning all! I can't believe I let this thread go over 24 hours with any chatter! So sorry!!

Here is today's motivation..... and I think it is very appropriate for the day before Thanksgiving........

Or even just three DAYS from now!!

How do you want to feel on Friday or Monday? Use THAT thought as your motivation when confronted with ALL of the goodies, treats, and indulgences coming your way in the next few days.

I'll tell you this... I want to feel TRIUMPHANT and SUCCESSFUL.... not bloated and guilty.... and those words will be written in ink on my eating plan for Thursday and Friday!

BBL to chat..... off to do my last minute marketing before the snow flies!..........P

Good morning everyone. I have a half day today. Then off to get my free ham, a present for my mother (her birthday is tomorrow), the gas station, and then the bank. we are only getting rain here but ds2 came home last night since they were predicting 4-8 inches where he is north of Philly.

After I run my errands ds, dh and I are going to the movies to see the new penguin movie since I don't have to cook.

We are thinking of splurging tomorrow morning and making fried bread. It reminds us of my mother's mother. I always spent Thanksgiving with her and my cousins who lived next door to her. She had two massive tables that filled up 2 rooms and we all had Thanksgiving together. We never had a kids table. Everyone was all together.

Off to get the day going.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Happy birthday to your Mom!!

I had planned to take my kiddos to take the new Disney movie, Big Hero 6, but thanks to Mother Nature we are skipping it....:sad2:

Afternoon friends! Snow started in earnest at 10 am almost exactly and hasn't stopped.... it is truly a WINTER WONDERLAND out there right now!

My green salad stuff is chopped and prepped for tomorrow, my quinoa salads are put together, my desserts are made and cooling, and my kitchen is cleaned up!! :dance3: I now need to pack my bag for a few nights away from home and I'll be all set (well, not including yelling at the rest of the family to get THEIR bags packed! :headache:).

Making healthy homemade pizzas for dinner, so that will be fairly easy and enjoyed by all. Other than licking a chocolate covered spoon this afternoon, my eating today has been SPOT ON. I really feel SO MUCH BETTER if I go into the holiday on track.

I'll be back in the morning with a quick greeting before I dash away for the holiday!...................P
