Well my WDW trip is only 3 weeks away and I found out today I will need to have 2 wisdom teeth pulled before my trip. :scared: I have never had any dental work done before (lucky, I know). So my question is do you think there are rides I won't be able to do while I am at WDW? Thanks!

I can't see you having any problems with rides due to your dental work.

:rotfl2: I don't mean to laugh - I know it's a serious question, it just strikes my funny bone in a cute way

but no, I don't think there are any rides you will have to skip. Although if there are any you don't WANT to go on but dh does, you can use it as an excuse. :goodvibes

How close to your departure date are you having the teeth out? It can hurt for a good day, so pack some painkiller if you're getting it done right before you leave.

Enjoy your trip!

It took me about a week before I felt better after getting all four of my wisdom teeth out. It'll knock you flat in bed for a couple of days. I think you'll be fine on the rides, but you may be choosing lots of soft foods...maybe lots of dole whips?:cutie:

DH thought he remembered at warning at Mission Space and suggested I ask if there would be any rides that I would have an issue with. Worst case scenario . . . I hang out in France drinking Grand Marnier slushies. :-)

Sounds good to me! :goodvibes

Hmmm...I don't know if there would be any MS warnings specific to dental work or why there would be. But if your surgery is super close to your trip, I can see you being more likely to get nauseous, especially if you're still on pain meds.

Hope your teeth pulling is easy on you. I remember only some heavy-duty aching for about a day, but my poor dh was moaning like he way dying.

I can understand your fear, and rightfully so, wisdom teeth are no joke! I had to have all 4 removed and all 4 were impacted and the bottom ones had wrapped around the nerve. I had never had any major dental work done before that, and I was very scared! I also wasn't feeling too swift for a couple days.

I'd say if your extraction goes well, you should have no problems on the rides. Make sure you take along your pain pills in case your not feeling well, and rest when you need to. Also, try and think of where you can eat and what you can eat. Depending on how close to your vacation, it might be a good idea to get some puddings or applesauce when you get there.

Good luck! I'll say an extra prayer for you!!

You'll be restricted from eating any "sharp" foods, like chips and crusty breads. Hope you're getting the sedation. It's worth every penny! :hippie:

You might have a hard time eatting a turkey leg or anything else you need to take a big bite out of, but rides you should be fine.

It's very important to know when exactly you are getting them extracted. There is situation called a "dry socket" that can occur. Not to be gross, but essentially the blood clot comes out of the hole and exposes your nerve. While it is VERY painful, it can be remedied very easily. Essentially they put some gauze soaked in some numbing medication into the wound area and it's a little piece of heaven. To try and prevent this from happening , DO NOT USE A STRAW at all! Sounds like I'm speaking from experience, huh? My doc told me I could eat a steak dinner that night. What a joke. It was sore for days, but once the pain meds kicked in (and I got that dry socket taken care of) it was fine. Good luck!

You'll be in alot of pain the first 3-5 days. The first 2 are awful, it's a bloody mess, and you cant eat any solids, let alone open your mouth.

You will be ok if it's 5 days after, if your going before 3 your crazy, lol. You cant do whatever, but you'll feel awful. It takes a while to heal too since your mouth is always wet. It took me 2 weeks to heal 100%, but the pain was gone after 5 days and the bleeding stoped after the 3rd day.

Oohh-Ouch. I have to say I didn't have this kind of experience at all. I was fine the next day. No pain, no bleeding, no problems at all.

2 of mine were impacted, 2 were crushed then pulled. I felt no pain for the surgery, but the impacted ones were awful since they went through my gums. I was 15 when I got them out, and it was hard, but I know adults had lots of pain, but no bleeding.

I was on pain meds for 2 weeks (I only took in for 1 week).

I had all four of mine pulled about two weeks before I went one trip and I didn't have any problems in the parks. Mine were badly impacted and had to be broken into pieces in order to be removed. It definitely hurt for several days (and I couldn't take any of the strong pain meds because it was during finals my senior year in college), but after that it wasn't that bad. The only thing I would suggest is that you get one of the syringes with the hooked openings to use to clean out the holes in your gums. They can probably give you one at the dentist office. My holes were really big so food got stuck in them a lot and if it's in there for too long it can be pretty painful and gross. I'm sure you'll be okay. Have a good trip!

Boy, you guys are really making me feel very lucky mine were so easy.

My cheeks were bruised and puffy like I had cotton in my mouth for a few days. I stayed in bed for a couple of days and eating got easier as the days went on. How long before your trip are you having this done? Unless it is the day before, I think you are going to be fine.

Have a great trip!!!

I had 3 that were impacted.

Had them pulled Friday at 8am, went back to work on Tuesday. If I had to hazard a guess, I felt normal enough to do a full day at DW on that Wednesday. I was eating normal food by then too- steaks, burgers, fries, you name it. Saturday and Sunday were not good- btwn the drugs and bleeding, I was a mess. My husband had to do EVERYTHING for me- get me food, wake me up to take medicine, change my gauze and change my ice packs.

Some are worse than others, it all depends. How many days before travel are they being pulled?

The reason you are seeing such dramatically different stories is because it depends on whether you are having them pulled or cut out. Mine were cut out and it was a nightmare for about a week. People I have known who have had them pulled normally are fine the next day.

If they are cutting them out, I would see if you could wait till after the trip if you are not in any pain.

I had one pulled out at the dentist office (It grew in sideways) and the other 3 taken out at the hospital.

The day after surgery, my family was going camping so the doctor gave me a perscription for antibiotics (just in case-no doctor nearby). I remember drinking Ensure or something like it out of a can. I think by about day 3, I was feeling better.

Hopefully, you are having yours out at least a few days before your trip.

Just went back and checked your post again!

If they are pulling them than it shouldn't be too bad. I remember my one (sideways) hurt way more growing out than them actually pulling it. All weekend I couldn't open my mouth as the tooth was hitting a muscle or something.

It makes a HUGE difference whether they are PULLED like mine were or surgically removed. I had lots of Novacaine, pain meds for about 5 days that I stopped taking after about 3, and no STRAWS for a week.

Do NOT eat chicken and RICE soup. :rolleyes1

Dole Whips sound like they would work well-Im looking forward to trying one next time. Mickey Bars should be good too. Also the Grand Marnier slushes.
