wisdom teeth

I have to get my wisdom teeth surgically removed on wednesday! All 4 are impacted, which means they're beneath the gum so they can't be pulled. I will be under IV sedation though. I was just wondering if anyone else has had theirs out?

Havent had them out yet. Like you all 4 of mine are impacted, but I couldn't even get in for a consultation with the oral surgeon until August 22. Since I leave for college the 26, I'm assuming it'll be winter break before they come out. But mine aren't extremely developed yet, so hopefully that'll be ok. I'm pretty scared about it, no matter when it happens. Good luck!

Aww! Good luck, hun. My friends have gotten theirs out and they were perfectly fine in a few days.

Don't be nervous, just think of how good it will be afterwards

I haven't had to get my wisdom teeth removed, becuase they havent caused any problems, but I have had to pry one of my teeth out myself. I had chiped it a few years earlier, and by then it was just a flat stub, were the gum would have grown over it. I tell ya, you want pain, try prying a tooth out from the root, with nothing but some tissues, some plyers, and a steak knife, with no sort of novicane what-so-ever. Eehh.

I had mine removed when i was 21. they were all impacted at 16 but i wouldn't have it done. By the time i waited 5yrs, they got all infected and painful; my face was so swollen I looked like a squirrel. Having them taken out was way less painful! In fact, I didn't even have any swelling afterward and I took tylenol for about a day or so. I wish i had done it sooner. The recovery was not hard at all.

Why should you be? You get to sit in that big comfy chair. I get the gas, so I get high during the numbing process, and I usually fall asleep before the drill, so I actualy would like to go to the dentist more. I'm more scared of my eye doctor than my dentist. I dunno, just something about them doing "tests" on me, just doesn't make me fell comfortable.

Can't stand the dentist either, but trust me the pain you're in now is far worse than what pain you will have after they're out. Just had two pulled couple of weeks ago and still wonder why I waited so long to have it done.

Plus you'll be getting all those terrific pain drugs afterwards

I'm scared to death of the dentist.

Me too, since I have braqyces I have to get "The Sander" and boy does that hurt!! And it leaves a really bad taste

I haven't got surgury on my wisdom teeth but I did have a surgery, I had to go to some surgury place for teeth and they had to open up my gums and connect some weights to my two teeth that won't come down. And it stopped hurting after a few days, yours will probably stop hutring after a few days to. Good Luck!!

Had four impacted wisdom teeth removed when I was 21-after months of pain and aspirin and hoping it would stop hurting. Man, why did I wait?

The surgery was much less painful and freaky than normal dentistry because the minute that IV hits you, wahoo! You just don't care about *anything*.

The few days afterwards you will need help because you'll feel like garbage-follow what the post-op directions say, including not drinking out of a straw. You'll have the worst bad breath you've ever had for about a week as the wounds heal in your mouth, and then you should be fine.

Ask your dentist if you can keep the teeth he extracts-you won't believe how big they are. My husband still thinks this is totally gross but I was fascinated.

one of my wisdom teeth is under my gum. it never grew in but they arent removing it, so im glad but you will be fine. don't worry about it!
