Good luck! I'm sure you will do just fine. My daughter(27) had all four extracted and the whole proceedure took less than 20minutes. I didn't have time to get comfy in the waiting room! She took the pain meds as prescribed and was feeling better each day. Get your rest, and take it slow!:grouphug:

For your relief and to stay pain free...keep alternating each cheek every 30 minutes with an ice bag (or frozen veg., frozen peas., it all works:) ) and you'll have hardly any pain! And whatever you do, don't bend over where the blood rushes to your head! This is some time for some pampering!

Good LucK!

Woohoo! Milkshake for dinner! That's all I can remember about having mine done at 26 years old... I know I didn't have much of it though- but the next day it was calling my name from the freezer. Good Luck!

I had mine out, two at a time (left, then right). Each person is different; I was lucky and used neither the pain medications nor the ice.

Speaking of milkshakes, do not use a straw and do not gargle vigorously. That (more correctly the sucking) could cause complications, namely dislodging the scab from where the tooth used to be; the result is called dry socket. The scab is the foundation through which new blood vessels grow and new flesh is built over the tooth socket.

Yeah I just had mine upper right wisdom pulled and it shatter cause the tooth itself was weak! But I left with some good meds! Made me loopy at times! But now two weeks out and I'm still a tad sore and bruised! I don't do getting put under! I go back tuesday for more! Yippie!

Whatever you do; do not suck thru a straw nor smoke if you do! Both can make u lose ur blood clot! And U DON'T WANT THAT! I ate tons of ice cream and mash taters, mac and cheese, and soup!
Well good luck everything will be fine! Just take it easy and soak up any pampering treatment you should receive! Lol!!!

I agree with the above posters...take it easy and follow your post-op instructions! they give them for a reason :)

when I had mine out the drs office told me to freeze some wet wash cloths in ziploc bags. Put on a hooded sweatshrit and you can put the bag with the wash cloth next to your cheeks with our having to hold them. It worked well. Good luck :)

Take the frozen peas or ice bags with you to the appt and start using them ASAP. Have another set at home and alternate.

My dentist wants me to get mine removed; I think one of them in impacted too. We have dental insurance (Aetna), but am afraid at how much it will cost out of pocket. My recent root canal cost me a pretty penny even after insurance's part.

I just had the 2 in my left side pulled on Monday. I got pain meds, but I basically took advil alternating with tylenol and that controls the pain fairly well. However, it is now Friday and I am still in pain when the pills wear off. When does it stop?

BTW, I had an easy extraction - no impacted or infected teeth. It cost me $94.

Good luck OP! I had all 4 of mine removed at the same time. It was so quick, I was only out about 20 minutes. They did give me prescribed pain meds, but I found Motrin worked SO much better. Definitely stay away from straws! I lived off mashed potatoes and mac & cheese for a few days ;) Take a few days to rest up!!

Wish mine was like that! I had four out- they knocked me out and I had it done in the hospital because I do not want to be put under in someones office. The pain lasted for days, couldn't open my mouth all the way for months! It was 10 times worse than having a c-section!

You'll do fine...hopefully you are going to an oral surgeon, they do extractions all the time and know how to do them. Maybe get some Boost, you'll need protein if you don't feel like eating because you're sore at least you can get some nutrients that way, or blend some real food. Follow their instructions and feel great soon!

I had all four of mine taken out last Friday. You will sleep most of the first day. Mashed potatoes are so good when you get tired of the liquids. Make sure they give you the little syringe thing to clean out the sockets after a few days. I am sure you will do fine. :wizard:

They may be covered.. I just had to pay $790 for a root canal, post and crown:scared1::scared1: My son is having his 4 wisdom teeth out and its covered 100%

Wow! The surgery yesterday was literally like 30 minutes. Was talking to the doctor at 1035 about being married, 11:05 i was waking up from anestesia. No real pain yet, but I've been taking the perkosets every 4 hours as requested. Icing it while I'm sleeping which is about all day haha. Thanks for the kind wishes! Hope everyone has a magical day.

Good for you! Sounds like went well.

I had a hard time with mine because it was the first time I'd ever had anesthesia, so I didn't know I was allergic... Vomiting continuously after having that procedure done, not so good...

Try to take it easy, and be aware that everyone I knew who had them out felt really good the second day, then got completely wiped out the third and fourth days before feeling a little better after that. I'm not sure why that happens, but its a minor surgery that packs a wallop.

I guess what I'm saying is don't be embarrassed to just take it easy for a few days. Take care of yourself! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

:) So glad it went well!!! Thought about you, wondered how it went! Remember to keep the ice on it! And after a few days, there really should be no pain. Sometimes ppl go for a week or so, still have pain and should have called the doc back! Just to be safe and sure that there's no infection!

It'll be fine before you know it, and this is the time to enjoy all those foods (icecream, frapps, mashed potatoes, etc) that you mightn't normally enjoy!

Feel better soon!
