Hello.... need help

replaced our desktop a few weeks ago... and just got our new laptop....
decided to rehook up all our wireless devices so decided to pull out our wireless router... and can't get it to work...

our router is a linksys wrt546g( about 4 years old) and our modem is a westell 6100,,,, when we hook it up we have No internet access...

I double checked and both devices are using different ip adresses... so now I'm stumped..... everyhting is hooked up correctly... and have gone thru all the step of for router....etc etc...

the only thing I can figure is the wireless portion of the router is fried.... any ideas:wizard:

I used to use a modem and linksys router and use to have to search dslreports.com to get them configured right other wise I had the same problem. I finally got annoyed and called ATT and told them that I wanted an all in one wireless modem and it's been wonderful. I told them I was considering switching to cable because they wld give me the wireless modem for free so they agreed to send it to me no charge.

well I just checked and the linksys works when not connected to westell and the westell works when not connected to lynksys.... so it is some problem communicating between both devices.....

have you checked your AV and firewall? First time we went to wireless we had to disable all of that.

well just figured out the problem... seems like the routers port 1 is broken... moved ethernet cable to port 2 on our router and it works fine.... thanks for all the replies!!!!!
