This is probably a dumb question but is there wireless e-mail access at the airports, especially Midway Airport in Chicago. I need to send an e-mail from my laptop before my flight takes off so I BELIEVE there is but I need to make sure. :confused3

Not that I've ever been able to find at Midway, unless it's a very recent offering (my last flight was a couple of weeks ago).

Darn, I was really counting on that.
That may just change my plans all together.

I noticed that it doesn't say wireless; I wonder if they mean in booths. My husband will be at Midway this Friday so I can ask him to ask them. My laptop has never picked up a network there, and I haven't seen any signs or other info. on getting access. I'll ask him to check it out and post the response Sat. morning.

I just noticed something...that website is not the official Midway site. It looks like it's a commercial site. Here's the link to Midway's actual website, and I wasn't able to find anything about internet access on it (unless I'm just missing it):

It looks like wireless is coming to Midway "late this year"! I finally found something under the press release section:

http://www.flychicago.com/doa/avi_news/WiFi0705.htm

I will LOVE that; I know where every outlet is located, but I always feel "incomplete" when using my laptop without an internet connection.

Darn, that really messes me up.
I was planning on sending an e-mail from the airport letting everyone know I was leaving, but that's on Sept. 30th. Guess I'll have to leave a voice mail.
Can you ask your husband anyway and see what he can find out?
Thanks!!!

I just ordered a laptop the other day, so I was checking up on MCO. According to the official website, they were implementing wifi starting May 2005. It would be free until it was set up, and a help desk was established.

Currently there are several kiosks which offer travelers internet connections, in addition to the standard dial service offered by the phone company via the RJ-11 jacks in the pay phones.

A wireless LAN project (Wi-Fi), which will permit users to access the internet from all parts of the airport, is currently being implemented. The service is currently free and is available in the:

WiFi should be installed in all areas of the airport by the end of May 2005. WiFi access will be provided without charge in public areas for a limited time, while there is no help desk available for users. Once a help desk is established, there will be a fee charged for WiFi access.

Cellular/PCS wireless is also available from AT&T, Cingular, and Verizon. Sprint and T-Mobile are in the installation process and are expect to be operational by the end of May. Nextel has declined the opportunity to participate.

There is wi fi at MCO. I use it all the time. There is wi fi at the USAirways gates, don't know about the others.
