Looking for ideas for a winter wonderland themed Disney wedding...

I am leaning towards baby blue, silver & white...

any suggestions or ideas

Hi Just an idea but for invites you could put some Iridescent Snow in the envelope. (Have never used it just seen it on a website). Perhaps do something incorporating snowflakes, candy canes etc

For table decorations you could do a candy canes sculpture.

I'll keep thinking.

just found this - may give you some more ideas

Winter in what hemisphere? LOL!

We are having a December ceremony so maybe knowing what we are planning will give you some ideas. Maybe not. Let's see.

We are having a Christmas-themed gathering in a very secular way because some of our guests did not grow up having Christmas. This might work for you. It will save you some money as well. Christmas can get expensive, but using the word wedding will triple the price of anything any season.

I am wondering if you should make use of mirrors in your wedding. Blue and white and silver would reflect well in mirrors. I think that would be really nice with soft lighting.

My wedding 10 years ago was Christmas themed. We gave out personalized Christmas ornaments as favors. Our colors were red, green, silver, and black. We had pointsettias line the aisles and fake glittery snow instead of rose petals down the aisle. We also sprinkled the snow all along the tables at the reception. For centerpieces, we painted giant wine bottles black, silver, and gold and put glittery birch branches in them. The entrance to the reception was lined with Christmas trees.

One of my bridesmaids loved this so much that when she got married, she did something similar and made her wedding blue, silver, and used giant snowflakes all over.

When my daughter got married it was in February but she wanted a "winter" type of wedding, like on the theme of the "Yule Ball" from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Everything was silvery and shimmery and represented an ice cave. Disney did this excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!! They even had icicles hanging from the ceiling and the tables had silver under cloths and shimmery silver over lays with crystals on it. We had crystal "ice cubes" scattered on the tables and the chairs were covered in silver with black sashes. The dancing floor was even white (the standard brown just did not work with our theme). Also, she even had a special greenery in all the flower arrangements (who ever heard of greenery in an ice cave? ) I can't remember the exact name of it but it was a mint green color and it looked as if it had been frosted. I had been thinking months about how to proceed with the sitting assignment cards for our guest which could be incorporated into our theme--ice cave. I came up with this idea: I ordered acrylic icicles and had the individual name and table printed on small cards (it was business card stock) and then tied them on the top of the icicle with a silver ribbon and then Disney had a 4 foot "ice tree" from the Narnia set at DHS and brought it over and hung the icicles on the tree. Unfortunately, I have not gotten a picture of how that tree looked with all the icicles hung on it (approximately 175 people) but people have told me that it was the most beautiful and authenic design they have ever encountered for setting assignments. This might do with your "winter wonderland" theme.

Oh my, that sounds absolutely gorgeous! It's so wonderful that Disney thought up all those amazing details. I hope you will come back (or your daughter) and post some photos!

I had a Christmas/winter wedding 10 years ago. It was rather unconventional, so I'm not sure if you can get any ideas from it, but here goes.

I wanted a Christmas-time wedding, and I wanted it to be FUN. I wanted to have a Christmas party atmosphere, and I wanted to make sure that the kids attending wouldn't get bored.

Not far from where I live there are several orchards where you can go pick fruits, etc. One of the orchards has a christmas tree farm where you can cut your own tree. They also offer sleigh rides that culminate with cocoa, cookies and christmas carols by a big bonfire. On site is a huge barn that they allow you to rent for parties.

This was exactly what I was looking for.

Our guests were informed ahead of time that part of the festivities would be outdoors, etc, and of what activities would be available to them.

The barn was decorated with several christmas trees, and large baskets of pointsettias. There were tiny white lights on the christmas trees, and on the evergreen garland that was strung along the railings. The wedding was at night, so the christmas tree lights REALLY looked gorgeous in the barn and smelled WONDERFUL.

The parking lot was a bit of a walk to the barn...and it was snowing...so the guests were brought to the barn by the horse-driven sleighs. The horses wore wreaths around their necks made of fresh evergreens and holly, and the sleighs were festooned with evergreen boughs and sleigh bells. It was not only a beautiful sight, but a beautiful sound as well.

I wore a fairly simple ivory velvet dress. Over the top, I had a matching velvet floor length cape that was trimmed in fur along the bottom edge, and around the hood. I did not carry flowers, I had a muff instead.

My maid of honor wore the same attire, but in a burgundy color, and the 2 bridesmaids wore hunter green.

After the ceremony was over, the fun began. The chairs were re-arranged and tables were brought in. The centerpieces on the tables were large glass bowls filled with beautiful christmas ornaments and tiny white fairy lights.

We had a buffet-style dinner with turkey, ham, roast beef, and all the side dishes that you could imagine.

Instead of a cake, we had a dessert buffet...you name the dessert, and it was probably there.

Along with the usual drinks offered, we had spiced apple cider, cocoa, hot-buttered rum, and hot spiced wine.

In one area of the barn, there were tables set up with pre-made gingerbread men and gingerbread houses. The kids as well as several adults had a blast decorating their cookies and houses to take home with them.

There was also a table set up with plates that had the saying "Cookies For Santa" outlined on them. Again, the kids as well as some adults loved using the markers and paints to decorate their plates.

Outside, the bonfire was blazing, and there was always a group of folks there, singing christmas carols and roasting marshmallows. Several of the guests built snowmen, and I recall a snowball fight or two as well.

We had pre-arranged for our guests to be able to get a fresh-cut tree from the farm. Anyone that wanted to could get in one of the sleighs and be taken to the christmas trees to select one to take home. The little kids LOVED going out to pick out the family tree and watch it be cut down.

We had a BLAST. Our guests went home with christmas trees, gingerbread cookies, gingerbread houses, santa plates, the ornaments from the centerpieces, full bellies, rosy red cheeks, and a lot of christmas spirit.

Whatever you do, I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful...winter weddings always are. My only advice to you is to have FUN.

I used to work for a catering company, and we did quite a few "winter wonderland" themes for wedding receptions and galas and whatnot. I have to say, it was definitely one of my favorites! Usually we used tulle to decorate the tables, with strings of lights underneath it...it creates a kind of glowing effect, and the tulle, when done correctly, creates a subtle snow effect as well.
Another version we did, was to lay out small branches of pine trees, which sounds kind of weird, but when you overlay them around the border of tables, then put some linen over the middle, so that just the tips of the branches are sticking out, then it actually looks pretty sweet..not to mention, it's very affordable.
For my friend's wedding, she did ornaments with personalized ribbons as wedding favors. You could also use these as a sort of place card.
The nice thing is that there are tons of options for winter wonderland themes, and the combo of light blue, silver and white looks absolutely amazing!
Good luck!
