Winter Storm Warning!

Fire14 Hello from your "southern neighbor." It's been sleeting the past hour. Eventually, it's going back to more snow. Yikes!! The Governor is holding a press conference at 3 p.m. I wonder if it's going to be weather related :confused3 With the sleeting, the worry now is the power will go out in areas. Everyone stay safe and warm! And those of you in states east of Ohio, get prepared!! It's coming your way.

Well here in NW Ohio we upgraded from a winter storm warning to a blizzard warning (or is it downgraded?). DH and I went out to lunch at noon and it was a little slippery, but not too bad. We left there at 1PM and it was noticeably worse--then we went to Home Depot and by the time we got home at 2 it was really crappy. Expecting 4-8" today and another 4-8" tonight for a total anywhere from 8-16 inches of snow, right now 21 MPH winds with higher gusts and wind chill of minus 4.
Tomorrow when it stops we have to go snow blow my parents and his parents out when we finish our own home. I hope we can at least get across the river 5 miles to my parents. BIL lives 2 minutes from his parents, but somehow when it snows his back always starts to hurt and we have to drive 20 miles and do it.

This is from one of our local radio stations. Boy am I glad tomorrow isn't a grocery shopping day (that's next Wednesday)!

Today: Becoming mostly cloudy, brisk and cold, light snow
developing in the afternoon or evening.

Highs: Upper 20’s (28).

Tonight: Breezy with snow, mixing with sleet and freezing rain after midnight…1 to 2 inches before the changeover.

Lows: Mid 20’s (24), then temps rise.

Wednesday: Strong gusty winds…a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain becoming all rain during the morning…some of it heavy at times, then changing back to snow in the afternoon…an additional 1-2 inches possible…

***A flash freeze is expected…***

Highs: Upper 30’s (39) early then quickly falling to the 20’s by late afternoon.

Thursday: Partly sunny with a bitterly cold wind.

Highs: Near 20

Extended Forecast:

Friday: Windy and cold…chance of flurries…mid 20’s

Saturday: Partly cloudy, a late day flurry? …lower 30’s

University of Cincinnati is closed today, so I'm watching the snow from inside. It's sleeting right now.

Last I heard was 10 to 20 inches minimum in our area - two feet or better up to the lake.. Definitely no school tomorrow and possibly not Thursday either if the snow continues through Wednesday night..

Son-in-law has his plow all hooked up and ready to go plow out friends, neighbors, relatives, and co-workers.. He plans on getting up at 4 a.m. tomorrow.. It's crucuial that he get to his one friends house - and all of that friends relatives - because they had a death in the family today and have business they have to deal with tomorrow..

Hopefully we won't lose our power, but I suppose that depends on if it's a heavy, wet snow - or the fluffy kind that blows all over causing white-outs..
