winter storm warning

We are under the gun today. Supposed to get bad this afternoon and worse tonight--blowing snow tomorrow and tomorrow night (which may affect my school day on Monday). 4-8 inches.
Know why they hardly ever have the super bowl in cold climates? Because there is a winter storm warning in Detroit as well! Toledo and Detroit have had maybe an inch of snow since Christmas, now all at once we are going to get hammered.
At least today is a "light" schedule  --DD#2 basketball at 8:30, DD#1 dance 10-1 (drop off), DS footskills 5-6--although that last one is 20 minutes away on a N-S highway, so it's iffy if the weather gets bad.

Are you in Michigan? I'm near Lansing and the last I heard it was a 50-50 chance for either a lot of snow or not.

I'm 10 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport and trust me, it's not 50/50 ~ they have doubled our snow amounts expected from last night  They had originally thought 2-4 inches and now they are thinking 4-8.

I can tell you though that in this area that will not affect school on Monday ~ tomorrow will be blowing snow but once it stops accumulating, they'll be able to keep up with the roads :thumbsup2

ETA: Umm, OK this post was written as a reply to someone asking how this would affect the Superbowl ~ then the post disappeared, LOL ~ just didn't want everyone to think I was off my rocker talking to myself, LOL :rolleyes1

Well, unfortunately it will make the traffic situation rather tricky ~ there are already some issues being reported and Detroit is famous for not keeping up with their roads after a snow day  Of course, Kwame doesn't want to look like a fool in front of the entire country so I'm sure he'll put a little more effort into it this weekend ;)
Ford Field itself is indoors, so the snow won't actually have an impact on the game itself. It's bound to be an interesting weekend here to say the least :teeth:

Huh?? :confused3 What was all that snow in january then ?? :lmao:

No I am not by Detriot but I am very close to Toledo and have seen plenty of snow since christmas...hopefully it wasnt all in my imagination :rotfl2: :lmao:

I'm in NE Indiana and its heading your way Stacy347. Its been snowing here for almost 2 hours. So far the roads are good, just nice and wet.

I'm in the Cincinnati area, and we're getting snow right now, dropping temps, and expecting ice. Wonderful!!! :furious:

DD is supposed to dance with her class at the mall later this afternoon, not sure if that will still happen or not.

Good luck to all those attending the SB!!

It's just pretty much pouring here....my backyard is a lake...soon to be an ice rink when the temps drop.

About the expected accumulation here....we will just have to wait and see....I was just wondering to myself if other states/cities are the weatherpeople ever right?

In my opinion, they have benn pretty off around here at predicting the weather.....all winter..

They are saying 5-8 inches by noon Sunday....but that really could mean anywhere from a dusting to 2 feet!!! LOL!!!

I'll take the cold weather anyday...all this rain is just making Mabel a mud-dog..it is terrible

Hello another Michigander here (up by the top of the pinky) and we have snow finally. I would rather have snow than day after day of gray. I hate the mud too.

We live out in the boonies and out driveway turns into a mud pit when it starts to get warmer. I could charge people to bring their jeeps here and do a little mud bogging!!

I noticed the weather people here are almost never right!!! But I was hesitant to say anything because I didn't want to sound like a CA snob!! :snooty: :teeth:

My family lives in SE Mi and have had quite a bit of snow since Christmas as well.

I'm so SORRY, Stacy!!! It was me. I posted the question and then when I read the OP I saw that they had asked the same thing. So I felt so stupid for not clearly reading the OP, that I deleted my post. (And since I have Mod "powers," I can do that. )

I didn't know that anyone would be so quick to read and answer my post. :(

We've been very lucky here in NY so far.. Not much snow this winter (although we've had quite a bit of rain!) and the temps have been unseasonably mild more often than terribly cold..

Of course I realize I just jinxed us all by saying this, but it sure has been a nice change.. :teeth:

Tiff, where are you in NW Ohio? I'm in Perrysburg and around Toledo we had the 3rd warmest January ever. Lots of rain, and some snow on the 17th (we had a snow day but really didn't need one), but other than that not much. Now December was freezing and snowy, but January was very mild. Are you out by the border? My sister is in Bryan and she always gets more snow.
I know the super bowl is inside, but just the horrible inconvenience of getting to it on bad roads, blowing snow, etc. I-75 is never in the best of shape in those conditions.
It has started to change over here in Toledo but nothing is sticking yet because the ground is warm.
Remember the 82 super bowl? It was also in Detroit when I was in college. Cincinnati vs. San Fransisco. It was FREEZING. Which is probably why it has taken 24 years to get back to Detroit, dome or no dome.

First I heard that central Ohio was getting 4in. and then 2in. I never believe it until I see it. Although given the fact my DS is having surgery on Monday and won't be able to do anything for at least 2 weeks I am sure it will snow big time. He got a snowboard for Christmas and hasn't had a chance to use it yet!

I would love some snow! I am so tired of the sunshine here in Az. I'm serious, 80 degrees in February is just WRONG.

I am below Columbus and about a 1/2 in on the ground - haven't heard the temp lately, but feels like it is getting colder - or at least the house feels cold to me

Rock'n Robin, I pass through your town on my way to Stacy347's house and then back home. I always know that 475 is coming up when I see the soccer nets :goodvibes That was very helpful when I learned that new route!

I am between Detroit and Ann Arbor and my Weatherbug is predicting 8 inches of snow for Detroit and up to 12 inches near Port Huron.

There are a lot of plows and workers on standby to clear the streets in Detroit for the Super Bowl tomorrow! IT's WINTER...it's DETROIT...it's gonna SNOW1

I am in Port Hurin and we have had nothing but rain since I got up this morning. Sometimes those really big slushy drops, but rain nor the less. I am not lokking forward to how much of that white stuff will accumulate if this rain turns to snow and continues like this.
