Winter Settler's Anyone........................

Winter Settler Rates have been unbelievable rates for those that have used them in the past. When you crunch the numbers, where could you stay in such a location in FL. and have access to everything Disney, Orlando and Fl. for such a low rate? You are talking about a million dollar location for what, $900.00 a month. As far as spending $10,000 for 3 months at Disney, I would think that filling up that site with rack rate campers who are going to do Disney almost every day would bring in much more. I don't fault Disney one bit for discontinuing the rates if this is the case because it just might make better financial sense and if it doesn't work then they can always bring it back.

John, I don't fault Disney either. As a business decision, it makes sense. The Disney Business Plan does not need to include "providing a place for old people to spend the winter." It just seems to me Disney owes those of us who are long-term clients and who have spent in excess of $100,000 at DW over the years a little more - say, information that is available to you as a cast member but we have to hunt for and don't know how concerning lowest camping rates. Or, freezing previous winter settlers out of camping at FW or whatever the heck is going on. No one chooses to communicate with us - we're left to guess.

John, I don't know where you came up with the figure of $900.00 a month for camping at FW. We have a fifth wheel and get full hook up. With tax in a regular loop we pay 1,207.50 per month. That is quite a bit more than the $900.00 figure you came up with. Winter settler rates for 2004 were $35.00 per night plus 11.5 %tax. That is $40.25 a nite.

nothing happening here in New York on that matter...
think the issue is now moot............
BUT.........REMEMBER, LOOK for a general public code in fall...........
this, too, has probably been eliminated by Disney.......
BTW...........
GAS here on Long Island is 2.99....wow, what a break.................. :paw:

How long can you stay in Ft Wilderness in the winter? I remember reading about this awhile back and it said something like you could stay 30 days then had to make a new reservation, is that still the same? It would be great to get out of the northeast for Jan Feb and March. We actually rented a motorhome in Orlando and stayed in Ft. Wilderness twice and we had a great time. Would love more info about this, can any suggest where I would look? Thanks

As far as I know, there is no limit on how long you can stay, but you have to make separate consecutive reservations for each 30-day period you want to stay. Quite a few people stay for three months more or less in the winter, until this year, when winter settler discounts have been eliminated. It will be interesting to see what happens this year.
