Winter Park, Oveido, Apopka, Windermere - Where to live???

My DH will be working in Winter Park and we're not sure what area would be best for our family. We currently have DS 14, DS 7, both in private schools here in TN. We're looking for an area that is family friendly and within commuting distance to Winter Park. Also any recommendations on Private schools in the area would be great! We should be closing on the sale of our home in Sept. and we are trying to figure out where we should look. Thanks!

If you can afford Winter Park, I'd look there first. Prices have dropped significantly since we looked there. When we were looking things were up around $250 per sq foot.

Will the kids still be in private school?

The commute will be difficult from Windermere and most parts of Apopka. There are no good direct roads.

Have you considered Maitland?

Oviedo is alright. I would also consider Winter Springs/Tuskawilla. Being up into Seminole County will help if your kids are transferring to public schools.

You need to come down and look around.

If you are interested in renting to start I know of a place for reasonable and available soon. I also have friends with a house for sale in the Tuskawilla area that is in an awesome neighborhood. The neighbors are super friendly and there is a big social group.

You do not want to travel I-4, it's a mess, especially during rush hour. That whole area gets a lot of traffic daily so be careful not to live too far from DH's work or he'll have a long and aggravating commute. I think given traffic the areas, besides Winter park, will be too far. You should come down before you move and check things out for yourself.
