My 8yo has never asked for a specific brand of anything so brand doesn't matter as much as quality (and not being embarassed...by, say, Elmo boots in the 3rd grade, lol).

I am trying to find her some new winter boots. She needs to be able to wear them in snow nearly every day, and they need to be pretty warm. I have spend WAAAAY too much time this morning checking old threads (all about UGGs and knock-off UGGs) and looking random places online.

Can anyone point me in the direction of cheap snow boots for 3rd graders? I'd spend $30 if I had to, lol. (Hate spending money on boots she wears for 10 minutes at the bus stop, to be removed the second she arrives at school, lol). She probably wears about a 1 in kids shoes, at the biggest.

I remember this time last year, I bought Lands End boots at Sears and they were on sale. Great quality.

I live in NE Ohio as well, and most of the boots I've bought dd's have come from Kohl's.

Bought some last year and think I paid right around $35 for them.. bought them 1 size big, and they're wearing them again this year... at the time it was a bit more than i wanted to spend, but they're getting 2 years out of them, so not too bad.

Searched Kohl.com, and these are the ones I got them.. they cinch up at the top which is really nice so snow doesn't fall down in... and the bottom is waterproof (a must for here, lol).

If you can find a 30% off coupon code (or coupon if they're in store), could get them for $31.

I just bought my kids the winter boots from Walmart. They used them last year and they lasted all winter. They are warm enought for the few hours they play outside each day and they are cheap enough that we can buy 2 pairs. One pair stays at school and one pair stays home. They dont walk to school so they dont wear their boots too school. I drop them off at the door. The walmart boots are $17.

Thanks everyone! I got these which are the same brand (and waterproof, and rated to protect down to same temp as the ones pp above mentioned).

Since another thread had 2 Kohls codes, I got them for 20% off and free shipping! So $31.99 + tax shipped. VERY close to the budget I had set for myself. :thumbsup2

I HATE boots shopping, I swear they look brand new when the kids grow out of them.

And if the 5th grade boy and 7th grade girl ask for winter boots, too, I will get theirs at Walmart. I am willing to bet they won't wear them more than once or twice all winter. My ds doesn't even want to put gloves on, ever.

i vote for Lands ends at sears i have a 2nd grader that can kill pair of walmart boots in a day, lands end last till she needs new size, if not they will replace them.

Where are your hand-me-downs? I only buy new boots for the 2 oldest (always had the same size feet), and have a boot bin in the attic. I have snow boots in every size! I like Lands End - they're not expensive, and trust me, they hold up!

The Kamik ones should be good.

I bought two pairs in different sizes for my daycare as spare boots. I got them at Liquidation World a few years ago. I don't recall the price I paid but they were a great deal as I knew they were a good brand.

The next year they had Sorel boots. I bought one pair of them in a larger size then the other boots. I don't even recall how much I paid for them-not more than $10-12.

I believe I handed some down to nieces, but never got them back (we used to do a 3-way hand-me-down). Other times, we had a skip in sizes. For example I have sz 12 in the house (too small for dd8 suddenly) and sz 3. Nothing in between. DD8 wore the 3's yesterday but it was really comical. She was lifting her knees high and stomping like an alien robot.
