Winter boots for 5th grade DD

She needs snow boots she can go sledding in, etc.

She also will want some fashionable winter boots, like UGGS.

However, I'm not buying her $100 = $150 UGGS when her feet are still growing.

So, any suggestions!

I'd love to keep both pairs under $50 each if possible.

I know that brand is popular with my college aged cousins, so I'm assuming it's trendy. They have other colors, not just pink.

Costco has fake Uggs for about $40. Both of my DDs have some and say they are comfortable, and they have held up well. Older DD has real Uggs as well, but her Costco boots are a different color and she is happy to wear them.

Land's End has nice snow boots.

Costco Fuggs for fashion. They are about $40 and come in 3 colors (black, brown and chestnut).

Ooh, my 5th grader (who wears a 9! ) would love those. She needed new boots last year, but we only found "boring" black or brown. So she crammed her feet into ones a size too small all last year, but there's no way she can wear them again this year. She is not into name brands, but is into pink or purple.

I wouldn't even mind the price, if I knew she'd get some wear out of them. But here in Illinois, the snow can be very hit or miss. I'm sure if I pay $72 for boots, she'll never have to wear them! Then again, maybe that's a small price to pay to ensure a mild winter.

Costco is a good option. We are not members, but my SIL is so maybe I can get her to take her to try some on.

Snowboots - I think she wore Landsend last year and we got a great deal on them at the end of the previous season.

Those Northface ones are super cute, but a little more than I'm willing to spend since she will probably only get 1 year out of them.

I go to DSW all the time, but it's not good for us to go b/c she always wants the $150 boots, not the $50 ones!

a bit more than $50 but I got these last Winter & I LOVE them! I wore them in the snow shoveling then all day at work. I got tons of compliments.

Not sure how old she is (I'm guessing 10/11) but my feet stopped growing by age 12. I wear an 8 1/2 my Mom a 9. If you think she's close to done maybe get a half a size bigger.

I agree that winters can be hit or miss (wisconsin). I am way ok if you spend $72 for your DD's boots if that helps to make sure the winter is mild!!!

The 'good' thing about being an adults size and older - is she likely won't be too hard on them and you should be able to sell them if she grows out of them after a year. I know a lot of mom's in my area whi pick up higher end things that teen's have outgrown (myself included since I wear a small and size 7!)

My daughter - who is hard on shoes, goes completely through a pair or two of Costco "uggs" each year - but she wears them pretty much any minute she isn't in bed. They work really well for the "get to the bus stop, wear in school, come home" life of a middle schooler.

Her playing in the snow involves ski boots.
