My son and his fiance are getting married at the end of this summer. He just told me tonight that his fiance entered various sweepstakes at a bridal show and she was just informed that they won one of them. Supposedly, they won a three day trip somewhere (St. Martin's maybe...I forget). Also, they get a $1,000 grocery shopping spree and two wedding bands. Apparently, there is some requirement that to claim the winnings they must both show up at a certain place together in order to collect.

I want to be really excited for them...it's so fun to WIN something! But, I have lived long enough to be VERY skeptical! Is this a common thing in the world of wedding these days? Strings attached? Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

Totally a trap! And they probably won't stop calling them if they don't show up to the place. I had to stand them up three times before they stopped calling.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had 3 different people call me and tell me I won a 3 day trip. You had to show up at a presentation for various things, cooking, dinnerware, etc. I also could get our wedding bands.
I didn't go because I was really skeptical and just felt weird about it everytime they called. However, I have had 2 friends go and get this. They had to sit through a 2 hour presentation and at the end, regardless of if they bought what they were selling, they did receive what they were told. I don't think they have went on the trips yet, so I'm not sure how easy it was or where to. Here's a link all about it:

Yeah, I went to claim my "prize" many years back only to have to listen to over 2 hours of high pressure sales for china and dinnerware. Apparently our pans will ultimately be the death of us but if we spend $2,000 on their cooking set we're saved! Ummm, not worth it!
