Is anyone else like me... and is going to try to wing it with the ADR? We are going in sept and I did make a couple reservations but I hate having to keep to a schedule...It's my vaca and I want to relax and not stress on where I have to be and what time.. I have been to disney too many times to count and I even worked there, so I've tried a lot of restaurants... So am I crazy to try to wing it ?

I totally get where you are coming from. I, myself, couldn't wing it. I need to know I can eat where I want to. But if you are flexible with where and when, then go for it. People cancel all the time, I'm sure you can find places to eat last minute. :)

I agree sometimes it's nice to not have plans and just go with the flow and your mood! Hope you find some new favorites!

We are winging it too! I did book a couple reservations (BOG, Sci-Fi for my nephews bday, Hoop Dee Doo) because those are ones I don't want to miss however other than that we will look on MDE to see if anything is open if we feel like a sit down meal, if nothing is open, we'll do CS. We've been to most of the restaurants so nothing we're dying to do. I think it will be worth it not to stress about getting somewhere on time. So no, I don't think you're crazy!

We always wing it as far as food goes, the only ADR I make in advance is tea at the GF. Otherwise we either go to GS at whatever park we are at that morning and let them find us something or get on MDE mid-morning early afternoon and see what's available. We are two adults so times are not important and I have an AP and my son always has hoppers for where doesn't matter either. We love going to GS and just saying find us something in this park, between these times.

We wing most of it, we wouldn't have it any other way. I think over 6 days or so, we do 3 sit-down meals, and we substitute/improvise on availability.

It helps that we find most of the "hard to book" dining experiences disappointing...Chef Mickey's, BOG, HDDR, etc. (I just dissed mickeygirl78's list above me...sorry)

You are going at a slower time........but you already know that. Winging it with ADR's is a gamble.......depending what restaurants you're talking about. There are plenty of QS places where you'll never go hungry either. For my wife and I we've got down to 1 TS meal a day so our trips are easy to plan from that perspective. For me its never been difficult to work around meals........now that wasn't always the case, but we've grown :-)

Good to hear... :)

Thanks..

We winged it on our trip 2 weeks ago. It was bliss. Barely used FP and only 2 ADRs. The rest was quick serve. F&G kiosks or walkups at tabke serve. Haven't had a trip that relaxing in a long time.
Good to know I'm not the only one!

I'm sure we won't starve..lol.. wing it is..

Not at all crazy. We're going in November and have made 3 ADRs over 8 days so far. Will plan some more when we're more sure what we're doing each day. The general consensus is that a day or 2 before you want to eat somewhere is an excellent time to get a last minute ADR. People are cancelling by that point.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for..

We've been to WDW so many times and eaten just about everywhere! Now when we go, we make maybe 3 ADR's for the week and do CS the rest of the time. Hate to be tied down to ADR's every day!

As long as you're comfortable with counter service, sure. But don't expect to get any table service meals. This doesnt mean you won't, but just don't be disappointed if you don't.

Depends on the crowd times - I had to make an "emergency switch" on my ADRs on January 3rd for DHS and couldn't get ANYTHING - even with just walking up. Same with most of the resort restaurants but I was able to get an ADR for the Wave at the Contemporary.

I really hate all the planning myself but after several of these "episodes" - it's better to have the ADR than not (also depending on your travelling party. :P

Last year, I winged it for some part on our trip in June. I'd check for nearby ADR's if we felt like a TS meal & go with what was available. Two that I can remember that we did last minute were Rose & Crown & Chefs de France. We've walked-in for dinner at Tokyo Dining also on another trip (party of 6). If there was someplace we REALLY wanted to experience, we had an ADR, but it was fun just going with the flow too. Enjoy your trip!!
