Wine to go

I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this question, but here goes:

We are staying off property at the Anabella. I am putting together our Vons order, and I wanted to order some bottles of wine. I thought we might pour ourselves some glasses and drink them on the way to the parks in the evening for shows/ fireworks, etc.

We have taken glasses of wine with us down to the Boardwalk area at WDW and it was fun, but I've never done this at home. Is there any problem with walking around with open containers on the street in Anaheim?

We'll get less wine if I can't do this as we have no plans to hang out in the room drinking!

Thanks in advance for answering my weird question!

Unfortunately you'll run into open container laws here. I'm not saying you'll necessarily get arrested if you are walking down the street with wine in a plastic cup, but it is against the law.

Thanks - I knew it would be illegal in a car, but I wasn't sure about walking around with it! We don't want to do it if it's against the law...

Although I think you can walk around in California Adventure with alcohol. Not the nice glass containers, but the plastic cups you can walk around with. At least, hubby and I have never been stopped with them. Of course, much more pricey, but hey, it's Disney! ;)

It's illegal to have open containers on the streets in CA.

While true in my state too, our resort zoned districts have special laws. Inlcuding allowing drinking in public and being able collect special taxes.

In the area around DLR they certainly have special taxes because of special zoning. That why the room tax is 17% So it's quite possible they have different alcohol lawas as well.

It's a really good question. I've never had a problem with this, though I don't know if I threw my cup away still on the hotel property or down the sidewalk.

Then we won't do it! Thanks for the information!

There is no law that says you can't sit on the balcony of your room and enjoy some wine! But DCA does allow wine in plastic cups and Beer in plastic cups around the park but that is only if you purchase it in the park. The Mendocino Terrace (aka the wine bar) in DCA has a ton of different wines to choose from, the Alfresco Lounge just above the 'wine bar' also has a extensive list of wines by the glass or bottle(yes you can share a bottle now at the AL!), and you get a real glass not a plastic up at the AL, the list they have is front and back, plus on top of that they have a full service bar and large cocktail list-and even if you want something and it's not on the list they still can make it! They allow kids to sit at the tables, and they have non-alcoholic versions also available! plus sodas, water and kids drinks!

Yep..had a glass of wine with me to pass the time in the holding pen for WOC..helped alot! Although...FYI..they stop serving alcohol in DCA 1 hour before posted park closing (as I discovered when I went to get my wine for WOC last month and the park closed at 8:00 even though WOC wasn't on until 8:15..oh well...and it was 7:10 and they had stopped serving...)
