Can you bring a bottle of wine in your checked luggage? I would wrap it VERY well and put it in a ziploc just to be on the safe side, but can it be done?
Yes it can be done. Another thing to consider is a "box"...so many of the better wines are popping up in boxes now!!! That way you do not have to worry about it breaking!

If it's wrapped well, it should be fine. Last month I checked 2 bottles that were packed in a tight box. Then I put the box in a small duffle and packed it with crumpled newspaper.
Made it all the way to Australia without any issues.
Pack it very well! We brought back olive oil and wine from Italy.....one of the wine bottles broke despite our efforts to prevent that. Thank heavens it was not the olive oil!
We always pack a few bottles of wine in our checked luggage for our WDW trips (DH is very particular........... ). We have found that the heavier shoe boxes (sneakers, boots, etc) are "wine-bottle" size! (Coincidence............ ). We wrap each bottle in thin bubble wrap and once they're in the box, we put the box in a large leftover WDW bag (starts the theme). We go a few times a year and have done this since the new rules were put in place; we have never had a problem.
