My wife and I are attending an "African themed" party in a few weeks for some friends that just returned from Africa. I would love to take some African wine to the party. I remember seeing some African Wine being sold at the "suvenier shop" (sorry, I can't remember the name) in the Animal Kindom Lodge. I'm not familiar with state/federal regulations regarding shipment of alcohol. Can I call the Lodge and have them ship the wine to me?? Has anyone done this before??

I'm desperate...Thanks

Probably a better idea is to go to a local store with a good wine selection & see what they offer. From what I understand South African wines (which is what they sell at the store/serve at Jiko) are becoming more popular & they may have just what you are looking for!

You may also be able to have a local store special order a case for you. It's possible that their regular distributor carries SA wines but the store doesn't sell them. You won't have to pay a premimum, just the regular case price, which could be less than having something shipped from Florida.

I have the Jiko wine list from March, but I'm not exactly sure where it is! I'm sure someone here could make a good recommendation, or you could check with someone at AKL for names.

Florida Laws do not allow shipment of wine to individuals in other states. So AKL will not be able to ship you some wine:(

Hi CyRide,

The wine that we enjoyed the most at the AKL is called "Indaba". The wine manager at our local liquor store ordered a case for us no problem.

Tiffany-

Was your wine the one that had a hint of green apple and was $50.00 a bottle? We were there last year and have been trying to get a copy of Jiko's wine list to find the name of that wine! Just wonderful!

It was the Indaba Chardonnay that they were serving in the Concierge Lounge. They were selling it in Mara for $25 a bottle but the wine manager at our local store sold it to us for $7.99 a bottle. Check out www.capeclassics.com Don from the Concierge gave me this web address.
