Wine & dine Course Confusion

Ok, I am confused. Did they change the wine & dine course BACK to the same as last year's course? The map that's on the "new" Run Disney site is still the one from last year and not the one they were showing this summer. Anyone know what the real course is?

Yes, that is the wrong map. But, to me, it doesn't look like the course has changed.

Really the biggest change was that in the new map for this year, we would be running THRU epcot and finish in the front parking lot, rather than running and finishing backstage behind say, the Living seas area. It's a pretty big change, and one that would impact our spectators so it would be nice to know ahead of time.

I was just looking at the map 5 minutes ago, and I am fairly certain they have the wrong one on their.

First indication is that they show the relay transition point, and there is no relay this year.

A couple months ago, they did indeed have another map posted that showed a route directly through EPCOT that entered at the International Gateway and finished in the front parking lot. I am hoping that this is the route that is ultimately used.

The map on the rD site is confusing and seems out of date. The 2012 course has a couple small revisions. There was a slight out and back on on Osceola as the course turned onto World Drive. Not long enough for most to know...simply it was a coned off section that would not allow you to make the direct turn onto World, you had to run 20-30 extra feet to get to the right hand turn lane then uturn around the cones and onto World. For 2012, this coned section disappears and you simply turn left.

This now adds some distance and pulls the finish line away from the bus stops in front of the cast member gate (Right of the main gate). In 2012, the course will enter Future World from the cast member entrance between Imagination and Land, run through the West Innoventions, around the Pin Traders Kiosk, under SpaceShip Earth then follow the other course out the Kennel Gate. The finish is along the fist few rows of the Imagine Parking Lot. (not the finish for the other long races).

Hopefully, I added enough description so you can visualize. Let me plot and I will post it.

Oh, and I am now OFFICIAL upset that I did not enter. I think I would love the finish.

Glad it helps! All credit goes to that site, they documented the new course. Seems when RunDisney started the new site, they put the old map on (still has the relay point when there is no relay this year)

The old espnwwos site had the newest map.

I emailed this question to RunDisney a couple of days ago and haven't gotten a response. Really hope the map posted above is accurate; I love Epcot and was really looking forward to running though it (even though it's just a little portion of the race)...

I am 100% certain that runDisney plans to use this course since they have recently recertified the course with these revisions. The course noted in the link above generally matched the certified course.

Of course, Disney can always decide at any given time to revert to another course based on any number of factors - even shortening the course should something occur outside their control

Just an FYI...I just got a response back from RunDisney stating that the map that is currently up in the website IS correct, except for the relay portion. Disappointing....

I would agree that it is 'correct' in the sense that it is an artistic representation. A couple years back, the full map had a nasty error that lead many to think the Boardwalk area was no longer on course. Simply not the case.

You can find the nitty gritty details of the course on USATF if you need more assurance that the course does run through the front part of Epcot and end in the Imagine Parking lot.
