I think they have changed it to cherry instead of banana but who knows it may have changed again.

I don't actually care for banana (hmm, maybe gagging on it qualifies as I hate it) but sometimes cooked ones IN something else can work like banana bread or cake. Having said that, I was actually going to try that dessert to see if I liked it if only for the presentation. And now, NOW that you say it might be cherry, my heart just did a little happy dance. If that's the case, I am FOR SURE getting it so I can have a fruit I KNOW I like AND get that coolio choco thing.

I will definitely be prepared for the cold. I'm actually looking forward to it. I am tired of melting in WDW. Whatever temp it is, it will certainly be warmer than New York!

November 3rd: Fall Feast 5k!!

So remember when I said how easy it would be to wake up and run the 5k the next day?

Yeah, so I LIED.

We woke up later than expected and caught the last bus to the corrals! I think we woke up closer to 5am. We just did not want to get up! We were so lazy. Good news is that the weather was quite nice, not too cold, and my new Wine and Dine jacket I picked up the day before came in useful! The location of this race was through Animal Kingdom which was pretty cool.

Bah, I look like I could be Drizella and Steve just looks more like Sleepy than Dopey!

When I signed us up I put us in Corral 1 because for the 5k it does not matter and you don't need to have proof of time (otherwise I'd be in the back ). But we were in the back of the first corral, because as I said, we were lazy walking to the corral and we ended up in the back. What I noticed in comparison to the Princess 5K was that this race was much less crowded than that one.

Soon we were off. Sorry I did not document this race as much as our first one mostly because I was still in a state of half-sleep. Ever since I fractured my ankle last year before the Princess 5k I did not prepare nor train for anything after that. So I knew I was in for a physical shock, LOL. But it was a lot harder than I thought it would. My foot was cramping up, and everything just hurt in the first mile! Also the path felt more crowded than Princess which took us through Epcot. The paths through AK were narrower so we honestly felt like we had to walk half the time anyways. In addition, the path went through a lot of uninteresting parking lots and backstage areas and the actual running through AK was only for like a mile or so.

So Steve spent most of the race doing this:

We at least made it to the entrance of AK!

FINALLY:

That first mile was tough!! I felt like my body was rebelling against being made to run after being in Disney for 5 days.

Running through Pandora was pretty cool though.

We got a bunch of character pics along the way.

BTW, who is this bird? I keep thinking it's Jose Carioca but it's not.

OMG It's Mile 2 thank goodness, I've never been happier.

The lotus floats were out which was nice.

I felt like the last mile was the worst. It was never-ending. Also we ran through a back lot for a good deal of it so it was boring.

Our last character was Clarabelle. So cool!

After what seemed like an eternity in the back lot area...we finally made it to Mile 3 and the Finish Line!

I always like to finish a race looking like I actually ran the whole thing. LOL

Oh man, this race was more difficult than the Princess 5k even though I was recovering from a fractured ankle before. I guess the lack of prep and the fact that we were already in Disney for a week just did not make me feel motivated to do anything remotely athletic. Haha. I'm glad I did it but next time I walk/run a race I will make sure to at least be in better shape or have the race be at the beginning of the trip so that vacation body doesn't have time to set in, haha.

At least we did it and got our medals! Steve was actually pumped up, but that's because he's ok with running, unlike me!

We got our snack boxes and several bottles of water and headed back to the GF. I have never been so happy to be in a bus before.

Our bus first dropped us off at the Poly and we decided to get off because I really wanted this:

Tonga Toast!! This was from Captain Cooks. A great post-race treat.
Although I think it tasted a little dryer than I remember it, so maybe the one at Kona Cafe is better.

We walked back to the GF. All I wanted to do was go back to sleep. Steve on the other hand...he was all up and awake and wanted to do something. I told him he could do whatever he wanted while I took a nap, but I warned him that we had a really long formal dinner that night, and that he should get some rest.

So you know those times when you talk to your spouse and whatever you say doesn't really register, or he/she completely doesn't listen to you?

Ok so that's every day for me, but I really really wanted him to get some rest before our afternoon FP at Magic Kingdom and our 3-hour 15 course dinner with wine pairings at Victoria and Albert's.

That's Clara Cluck! (Pretty sure, anyway.) It's the same chicken at the top of the barn float in the parade at MNSSHP.

A stumper! I've definitely seen her before...maybe in a Silly Symphony?? I actually stopped here and googled her to make sure She is an old friend of Mickey from the black and white cartoon days! Her name is Clara Cluck.

Our last character was Clarabelle. So cool!

That's awesome! I met Horace Horsecollar at the runDisney 5K in January and was SUPER excited while the people around me were like, "Who's the cow?" LOL

I thought I was going to commit harakiri in the last bit of the 5k. I was underprepared (never ran a 5k before) and by myself (Paul ran the half). The only thing going for me was the Mary Poppins soundtrack that I was listening to. I was actually really hyped up when I got back to the room. I think I even woke Paul. The rest of that day is a blur. I don't think that I napped, but I usually don't nap.

It's tough! My legs were already so tight from walking all day and then throw in a race...yeah not a good idea.
