Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend 2022 (Nov. 3-6, 2022)

I wonder if it makes running there easier though because the paths won’t have to be coned off. Wider space?
I think that’s sort of the idea… with the 10 miler, the route was def meant to get people in and out well before HS opened. Im not sure a route through HS with park guests is feasible, I can think of at least one spot where it would get pretty tight. I’m very surprised that they’ve gone with a modification of that course for the half though.

I ended up just using that Google Map for the 10K. I exported the KMZ file and converted it to GPX. Here is what it looks like in Strava (28ft of elevation gain):

I did my best to build the half map and the mile markers are close. Here is what I got (12 ft elevation gain):

In Strava there seemed to be a public heat map that corresponded to most of the course and since much of this isn't re-use as far as I can tell I'm guessing whomever ran/biked the course for measurement uploaded to Strava.
Do you have a link to them in Strava? I'd love to import it into my garmin account without creating it myself.

I looked for those this morning so they must have just uploaded them.

I'm not sure I got the turn around correct but I just want it close enough to have a PacePro for both races.

I like this half course better than the 2018 that started at MK and finished at Epcot. The double loop through Epcot is nice and you get park timer earlier than that route. The road portion has two long straightaways which will be good to push time with the carrot of Epcot waiting for you. This will also be my first time from the Boardwalk to DHS instead of the other way during a race so that will be nice.

Half map: more time in EP, no bus to TTC for those of us who drive, time in SW:GE - I’m happy! Also fully expecting them to lean heavily in on the “Music of America” theme in the backstage and BW areas With live musicians.

The most important item for me is still unknown, though: WHERE WILL THE ADVENTURERS CLUB BE STATIONED??? They were in AK last year, so nothing to go by now.

Is the half going to be enough different from the 10K? I'm feeling a little disappointment about the half course this year, but mostly just not wanting to miss AK, I really loved running through there.

I'm feeling pretty confident that the guide will be released tomorrow because I'll be unable to relentlessly stalk the interwebs due to work 😆
You're all welcome 🤣🤣

Maybe I'm just an optimist, but my initial reaction to the new HM course was that the change was done to please the runners who wanted to run through WS in the dark and GE. I was looking forward to running through AK so a little bummed about that. However, I'm looking forward to getting a selfie with Gertie. 😁

Those wanting to get on a ride better start contemplating if getting stuck on journey into imagination is worth it 🤪

At least they’re opposite directions? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

It’s significantly more time in HS for the half. That said, I’m not even running this but Im not that much of a fan of the 10k (my fave is the map they used for Race for the Taste, which loops all of Epcot and the nearby resorts) and it does seem weird that they’re shifting away from AK for this weekend. The way things were going, I thought it would be neat if they had featured longer races for MK (MW and Princess), HS (10 miler), and AK (W&D). Curious if they keep this up next year so they can have the race village exclusively parked in Epcot and not have to deal with the MK parking lot.

I think so. Even thought the 10K and Half run through the same parks and have some overlap you are running different areas both days.

I also think Epcot and F&W should be the focus of the weekend and there is no need for these rotating themes so having Epcot so central to the course checks that box for me.

I’m actually ok with that, because I can start out slow and enjoy the scenery to get warmed up, then really let go and zone out in my own head on the highway parts
The 10miler during SS 2022 was similar with all highway miles in the last half. It was surprising nice to be able to just RUN without all the zigging and zagging the first half through the parks.

In that same 10 mile race in April, the Adventurers Club was on the side of the road in the last half of the race. Near the mile 8 turn around I think.

I am also excited to run through SWGE!

Also, did anyone else get guest After Party tickets in the mail yet? I got mine, but not the other 3 I ordered....

It turns out the ones you buy separately are not mailed, you get an email with a PDF attached a few minutes later. Unfortunately mine went to junk and I never released it so it is gone. I did call Disney and since I have my recipt with the confirmation number I was told I could add the ticket to my MDW with that confirmation number but I'm skeptical. If anyone does add the ticket using their confirmation number please let me know.

So Sunday, after the HM, was supposed to be a non-park day for us, just doing the after party. We are even switching to Yacht Club that day to have a pool day at SAB. But.... now that I see the HM course... and assuming I will be done right at or after 8:30 (very likely for me).... I'm really debating adding an extra park day ticket, so I can walk through EPCOT after the race. Maybe even get a super low boarding group for GOTG?! Ugh... hard decision... but I will want to walk afterwards right? Walking is so good after a half..... (anyone want to talk me into this lol!).

Oh yikes. Time to go searching through my e-mail....

ETA: Ok, miraculously I found the e-mail from March 22 with the pdf of the guest party ticket confirmations. And I was able to add them on MDE using the very small Order Confirmation Number that's on the pdf, in the box with the rounded corners that says "Post Race Party" with the details. It's the small font at the bottom of that box - the first code.
