Wine and Dine 2015

Of course the pup woke up sick this morning. :crazy2:. He's only 6 months old so any time he throws up like he did I'm worried he is sick sick and not just an upset tummy. He was clingy right after and then got up and acted like nothing happened so we'll see how he is later tonight.

Next to last work day before travel.
Owner's lockers were delivered today. I always have them delivered the day before.

NB virtual queue information still not updated on their website. Still says come back in early November. Probably won't even work until Fri AM. And we don't even know what's going to be there shoe wise.

Haven't run since last week. Was prepared until the last 10 days before and then it all fell apart. My last run was I think about 5 days ago give or take for 45 minutes. Nothing since then. Just want to run this thing and get it over with. Burnout is real, ya'll.
Yeah, I am surprised they haven't revealed the shoes yet! I looked at the NB page yesterday and it was still information from the Disneyland Half. :confused3

I could have sworn at the beginning of the year they said they were doing at least one new design per race weekend...
Yeah, I am afraid of that. I may carry them or the hat and just use them for pictures. They are child ears too. :(
That's a good plan. I was originally going to do that but just ended up leaving them on the entire time. Maybe if I had stuck to that idea it wouldn't have hurt my head that much...

Poor pup! :( I'm sure he is fine though!

Sounds remarkably familiar, our Aussie spent the night with diarrhea and throwing up. Oddly he was super excited to be at the vet, full of energy and acting like there is no problem.

Don't they always do that?! I swear our vet thinks we are crazy when we bring the dogs in and say he has been lethargic for a week and then all the sudden he found some energy and seems fine at the vet haha.

I know we are not hoping for rain... but I wanted to chime in from my experience with it last year. My daughter and I put on a garbage bag in the corrals at the start of sprinkles. She dumped hers on the side of the road at the start. I kept mine on for 1-2 miles, and then I folded it up and just tucked it into the back of my spi belt, folded over. I am so glad I did, by mile 8 back on the overpass going into DHS it started coming down pretty hard and I was getting cold. I put it on again and was warmed up quickly. I took it off by the back entrance of IG. My daughter was wearing a tank and her shoulders were freezing by the time we left DHS. Made a quick call to the boys and DH & DS were waiting at YC with a running jacket I left in the room for her.
If the forecast shows rain, pack a trash bag or cheap $2 walmart poncho and try to hold onto it during the race, if you can. It really made a huge difference for me last year, I am one of the few that will say the rain did not ruin it for me in '14.

THANK YOU for this idea! Also for the "call in for reinforcements" (i.e. jacket) part! I have already told DH that if it comes to it, he better be ready to run a PR 5k to get from wherever he is in the party to the Boardwalk to meet me with whatever.... :)

I don't know how I could possibly be this unlucky but I woke up this morning with food poisoning. :crazy2: There goes all the hydrating I've been doing all week.

lol. It is definitely real! My last long run was on the 26th, so it will be 2 weeks of taper between that and the half. Except, I have been pretty bad since then. As soon as my mind hit the "yay time to taper!" phase, it just died out. So in the last week and a half I have only done 2 quick runs of 1 mile each to stay loose. And they did not go particularly smoothly. So it is making me very nervous! But, I think it was either this thread or the marathon thread where other people were saying their short runs were going poorly too. Maybe that is a thing? Or it is just because I am not out long enough to get into a groove. I am going to try to do a 5k tomorrow morning before we leave after work, and hope it goes better.

Did I mention I haven't packed yet? Is there a face palming smiley?

Re: ponchos... where would find one of those at Target? I need to run over there for some things today, and I was just going to bring a garbage bag but I realized the trashbags we use are not the large black kind and I don't know if they're really big enough to make a good poncho. I was going to go buy some large trash bags, but if they sell cheap ponchos maybe I'll just grab one of those. :) I'll have my Disney poncho with me of course (provided I can find them! we must have at least 3 pairs of ponchos but with my luck I won't find them and I'll end up buying yet another one this year), but I don't want to ditch that one.

My last long run was the half I ran on 10/17. Although I have not totally crashed and burned since then. I have still been running my shorter distances (and a decently hard effort 5K for me 10/24) and have been spinning 2x a week. I did skip spin today, though. I had planned to just go and take it easy but changed my mind.

TMI: If it makes you feel any better, I was suddenly hit with GI issues the day of last year's race and by the time the race actually rolled around I was okay. :) Hope you feel better!

In the camping section. :)

I usually find them in the camping section. They have (at least at our Target) little racks similar to the kind you'd see in the travel section, except they're filled with little knick knacks for outdoors. Ponchos, packable rain gear, those heavy duty light sticks, prepackged TP, bug repellant, etc. I think they run $1-2 a package. I think we've got ponchos in our owners locker, but I have an outdoors running jacket that it water resistant so I'm just bringing that. It was in my 'in case of cold' packing ideas- because it's lined with this thermo shield stuff- I think mylar like the blankets. It keeps you warm, but still breathes.

Can anyone tell me where at Poly the race busses go from? I remember at YC that it was a different spot to the normal buses, and wondering if Poly is the same.

At PHM it was closer to the front entrance of the resort. But it could change. Best bet is to check when you arrive.

OH no. I had bad food poisoning about a month ago now and that was the big fail of my training. I couldn't get any energy back for over a week.

They should have some decent signage that will help.
