Wine and Dine 2015

Um, yeah, I was just kidding. No intention of trying to catch up.

I would be surprised if you didn't run faster than that 3:00 group. Shoot, you might, very well, catch them. You've had some good runs of late. My ribbing is with best intentions. It's nice to see the race and training through a new runner's eyes. Your posts are absolutely charming. I was holding my breath waiting for your race report, and had such a sigh of relief when you posted uninjured!

Every year I've watched someone train themselves off a cliff and it's hard not to say something. So if I jump in and say something, it's because I want you to do well! Take it easy on this last long run! That goes for all of my Imaginary Friends! If you're out there running 800's this weekend, it's OK to leave a few undone as an offering to the training gods.

I ran with my plastic, grape, garland last night. The KT tape seems to provide enough padding and the KT-tape-adhesive doesn't seem sting my eyes, with plenty of sweat testing. John Blutarsky's Magic Band arrived in a color none other than mustard. My pace bands are ready to go for any temperature. Who am I kidding, 2:00 hours, dream on...I probably should make one for 2:15, 2:20 ha, ha, ha.

I love your garland! Is there more to your costume? If so I'd love to see!! Here's mine I'm going as Cheshire Cat...

Ok, no harm done. It's hard to read intentions in a forum post and I felt a little mocked. I'm glad you explained. :)

I had literally JUST read about pace bands and printed one out RIGHT before you posted that! Of course mine is 3:00, lol. I feel like I can do a 3:00, just on my own, from my own corral.

Any funny looks on your run? I'm doing my "test run" in my full costume in a Halloween 5k next week so I won't stand out lol. I hope a 5k is a long enough test? I did my 12 mile in the shorts and skirt but I have since got a new top as the one I had annoyed me (test run WIN) So I will be trying the new top on this weekends long run. Basically just the hat to test left. And I will ditch it on race day if needed.

I've 100% give up on my gift card and my magical express tags. I'm just going with it though.

And thank you for all the info on the pace group!

Wow! Thanks for this link!!!

Bluto as Bacchus, the costume on the left. It started out as just Bacchus but I never know when to stop.

Not the shimmery silver on the right?;)
These look like soooo much fun... I just haven't polished up the creative gene this year , but really appreciate everyone posting their ideas and pictures!

Train and create on!!

Been nervously checking the 10 day forecast. Still only up to Friday the 6th, but the three days leading up to W&D are 50% chance of rain :guilty:

Since I feel I had a hand in that as well, my original response was serious advice. I tend to start too fast and have ruined many a race by catching up to the people in the corral ahead who run 'my pace' or 'feeling good' for the first 5 miles only to blow up in the last 2. I missed the kidding/sarcasm of it all and could not help a Sheldon reference. Sorry to have made you feel mocked, I would never do that to anyone. I find it inspiring with all the new runners tackling the challenge of distance running and finding a love for a sport I have enjoyed almost my entire life. My wife decided to run Tinkerbell a couple of years ago and watching her find a love for running, put in the effort and get to the start line was a moving experience. The pure joy of watching her cross the finish line and collect her first medal means more than pretty much any award I have received.

Magical express tags and info came about a week or so ago. No gift card yet.. I'm in NJ. I sorta liked the prior system of receiving card at package pick up.

No worries! Thanks for the advice. I am definitely new to running and races. I self placed myself at the back of my 10k and feel like I stayed pretty consistent with my pacing. I was surprised that only 5 people finished after me (out of 231 5k/10k combined) as I don't think I was that slow. I guess most people with my pace only did the 5k part. Only 5 people ran the 10k slower than my 13:33 pace. I know this won't be the case at Disney!

My Road ID has "my race, my pace" on it. I've also gone out too fast, and this is a way to remind myself to stick with the plan.

DW is out on a 10-miler now. I run tomorrow morning.

I cant wait to try my first zebra dome! We are staying at AKL for 10 nights so I am sure that I will eat only a few.... :rotfl:

Is a zebra dome vegetarian? I always order vegetarian at Boma; it's all those doe-eyed mammals staring at me through the window. ha, ha, ha

800's are done. I almost walked off the field after only half. I over slept and temps were high 70's low 80's. A mid-set-break got my head back in it. I was initiating the speed from quicker cadence not over stretching my stride. I was using a belly breathing (diaphragm breathing) technique. In other words, I was trying to pull out all the little tricks. Any run where I don't have to chew and swallow a rescue aspirin is a success at this point in life. I should have followed one half of PaDisneyCouple and done it Sunday. I have kayaking with gators to attend to Sunday.

If you have a chance to look back during W&D you will see participants for miles behind you at your current pace. I was going to say that seemed like a small crowd for your roller coaster event. Those folks can't make a living with turnout like that.

What can I say? I wore it at the princess 2014, what better homage to "princess" than "Steamboat Minnie"? That tail was a bit of a wardrobe malfunction because it kept getting between my legs, upfront...very wrong and un-Disney. I get the whole running skirt thing ;) If you aren't laughing with me you can at least laugh at me.

I'm so excited to have finished my last long run this morning. I went for 13.1, never doing that in training before(only done it twice, 2 official 1/2's I've run). I managed it, and I feel pretty good. I beat the times that I've gotten for my previous 1/2s but of course I had no crowds, no potty breaks, no pictures, etc... I just ran! NOW I'm ready! Lets do this! :) I have a feeling this is going to be a long 2 weeks.

I was researching why endurance athletes tend to have low white blood cell count at this point in heavy endurance training. One thing that helps in retaining the white blood cells is doing at least 15 minutes active recovery in the 50% -60% Heartrate Reserve range after hard intervals. A few years ago there was some suggestion that l-gutamine supplementation helps too.

bazinga(or Hypoxic training in the grocery checkout line, you know hold your breath when people next to you sneeze until you leave or they leave)

When I run, my immune system is much stronger. :confused3
