Wine and Dine 2015

We are at SSR from Friday-Sunday. We come back down 2 weeks later with our sons for our family vacation over Thanksgiving. Getting really excited!

We're staying at POFQ.

Is anyone in here a SparkleSkirt expert? :) I need some advice about the skirt I recently got. I'm not sure if it's too big or not... trying to decide if I should return it. I got the HikerChic style because I am tall (6'0") so I thought that I should get that one so I'm not flashing my butt everywhere. I feel like I had to pull it WAY high though to get the shorts sit where they should be. Like the top of the waistband was well above my bellybutton/small of my back. Do they normally sit so high or do I just have fit issues with the one I bought? I was hoping for the shorts to be more compression like, too, but they don't seem to be that strong.

I guess I'm having a little bit of buyers regret about getting the longer style now, there seems like so much fabric swinging around, and I cannot exchange it because the one I bought was a new release (Namaste) that is completely sold out in all but XS. Maybe I'm just not used to wearing a skirt, though. :) I have not worn a skirt in probably 25 years. :D

I'm not an expert by any means, but I do run exclusively in Sparkle Skirts now. I don't know if it's me (I have a short torso and am battling the baby belly) but I have to pull the skirts way up too. Mine sit above my belly button or else I am constantly hiking them up. I honestly had this problem with my favorite running pants before I transitioned to Sparkle Skirts. It always seems ridiculously high to me, but at least they stay put. So maybe I'm an oddity, but that's how they fit me.

And I'm only 5'6" so I'm not sure about a hiker as I only own swings, but I can't imagine more length even though, as I said earlier, I am more legs than torso, to run in. For everyday wear I'm sure it would be fine, but it wouldn't work for me for running. I know others swear by them though.

Maybe that is part of my issue too... I have a short torso as well. And am always hiking up my capri pants. I am an inch or two taller than my SO, but we always joke that he'd tower over me if our leg lengths were reversed. He wears a 29" pant and I wear a 34 or 35". :) I don't think the skirt is too long when I have it pulled up to where it feels like it should be for the shorts to be in the right place. It hits about mid-thigh. It just felt like the waist was ridiculously high. :) I'll have to try it on again in a couple days. I made the mistake of trying it on right after I got out of the shower so I was all damp from showering and the weather is really humid and sticky right now and nothing seemed right. :)

I'm not sure I want to burn the points for Swolphin on Club Level for a room we'll only be in to sleep for 6 hours (only thing they have available - 60k in points? No thanks!)

Looks like my other options are POP or either Port Orleans property.

Suggestions? I've never been to either.

Hi Everyone, popping in to this thread to ask if anyone has the link for the discounted park tickets. DH and I are doing AP's this year since it makes sense with more than one trip (yay!) but we're going with another couple to run W&D and they need tix (and I'm naturally the Julie McCoy of the group, LOL) Our Active.com emails have the code, but I can't find a link anywhere for the online ticket store. The only thing I'm finding on the rD site is a link to tix for the after party. We bought the discounted tix last year and I found the link much more easily! Any help would be greatly appreciated! If anyone has it, feel free to PM me if it isn't appropriate to post the link openly.

Many thanks and happy training!

Also check out the prices at acclaim travel, just to price shop!! I know I had gotten an email about tickets but don't know how the prices compare.... I'm toying with AP's for a year!!!

If you're only using the room for six hours, save the cash for good beer, wine, and food, and stay at Pop.

We typically stay at POR or POP depending on the trip. POR if we want to spend a little more resort time, POP if we won't be there much. Both are fine. Values have 2 in 1 shampoo, mods get separate conditioner.

I would not call myself an expert, but I do have a few skirts that I run in. I did buy one HikerChic and I do feel like I had to pull it up higher than the others for the shorts to sit right. I would say on the SwingStyles that I have the waist usually sit right at my belly button.

Safety in numbers. Pop seems to keep transportation rolling. I need to think about reservations. hmm.

So, I guess I better get a hotel for Saturday night now ... :scared:

Where is everyone staying?

We are staying at AKV in a 2br villa from 11/6-11/16. But I am worried about getting back to the resort after the race. How hard is it to get a taxi at 2-3-4am?

@Miranda I only run in Swings and Vented Slims so I cannot comment on the Hiker waists, but as long as the shorts are not riding up and the waist isn't falling down I would think that you DID buy the correct size. Definitely try a swing at some point and see if you like it better.

I think they're going to be re-stocking Namaste, so maybe get in contact with them and see what they can do about an exchange/refund if you want to try a different style.

60,000 points! Holy cowsa!
We've stayed at both for races~ I love POR but Pop will be easier transportation. Pop's rooms are just fine for the amount of time you will be there. I love their grounds and the food court is good. Plus, you can always walk over to Art of Animation's food court if you want options. Request a room in the 50's or 60's section and you will be a little closer (unless you go with preferred).

We are staying at Pop for the W&D 1/2 Weekend. We needed a budget option after spending 8 nights at the Disneyland Hotel for the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon weekend in September. :upsidedow

If it's cold and wet like last year, the cab line will be crazy ... if it's nice weather and folks are relaxing, finishing their adult beverages and such whilst waiting on the busses, the cab line will be minimal.

Basically clear as mud ... sorry.

I stayed at POP for the W&D and thought it was a good option. Is it a host hotel? I see in the FAQ that transportation is only provided to host hotels which implies all hotels aren't host hotels but can't seem to find the list.

You can also walk from POP to WWoS. There are no sidewalks but plenty of grass next to the road. You could use it as a nice warm up jog. There are people who will say you aren't allowed to make that walk but they are wrong. Florida law supersedes Disney policy when it comes to pedestrian laws.

For 6 hours to sleep I'd stay at Pop. It's not my favorite, but I wouldn't want to spend any more than I have to if all I'm going to do is sleep for 6 hours.

I missed if it was answered, but do we run though the lights during the race?

Sadly yes. They give me a headache. Total sensory overload. I'm in the "less is more for holiday decorations" camp - which about those lights feels like a minority of one who doesn't get the big deal or like them at all.
