Finished my PoT race. Peachtree was a torrential downpour at times. Lightening delay midway through the start waves. But I finished just under 1:30 which was my goal.

Now I am just happy to be dry.

Congratulations on your time, especially with the conditions. I ran Peachtree this morning too and was on the course when the lightning started. If we have another Splash 'n' Dash for Wine and Dine, we'll say, "Oh, this is nothing!" If you need a fast 10k for PoT next year and are near Atlanta, try the Lake Hartwell Dam Run in May. It is a couple of hours up I85. I have had my fastest times there the last two years. It usually has about 800 runners.

I didn't run wine N dine last year...just did the 5k with my 8yo. Went to the party with a friend. But today definitely reminded me of that mess.

Did they pull you guys off the course or did you get an official time? We went into Phipps during the delay.

We used to live in Atlanta but moved to IL last summer. I walked the race last year with a friend. I needed a proof of time and not a lot of 10k options that worked in the timeframe I needed. Hopefully I will be able to find more races up by me going forward...plenty in Chicago but that's 3hrs away.

Congrats to all you PoT'ers. My PoT was at a midnight 10k on the 4th, with a time a few minutes under an hour. I"ll take it! The first mile was at 9:30 pace and I slowly brought the speed up. I was back at 9:30 in the last mile. That last causeway bridge hit me hard. The temps were at 81 with 78% humidity. All-in-all, it was a good race simulation, with high temps and rolling terrain similar to Osceola Pkwy.

Luckily my 2014 Hartford Half was better than I thought it was for PoT! Otherwise I was looking at an over 3 hour PoT - eww!

Did they pull you guys off the course or did you get an official time? We went into Phipps during the delay

They evacuated the start and finish lines, but just told those of us on the course to be careful and run faster! So we did have official times. Fun times and a story to tell regardless of the weather!

So what is everyone doing for costumes?

No idea. I have a RawThreads black Run for Wine tank and the Evil Fairy tank, but I kind of want to wear something bright given that it's a night race. I probably won't go full-on costume, just a themed tank and matching SparkleSkirt.

Good news: My dad ended up talking my mom around and bought a ticket today to come watch our kids for W&D.

Bad news: We have to rearrange all of our plans again! I didn't think it would happen so I had canceled a lot of our reservations.

But, first time away ever since having kids really! Woo hoo!

For costumes our plan was beer maid and then some form of leiderhosen for my husband. I still love this idea. However, it's Veterans Day weekend and my husband is missing his last Marine Corps ball for this race so I'm also contemplating something military-esque. I'm just not sure how that would work. So I'll probably stick with the original plan.

Same here. I'm not planning a costume - the most I'm considering is maybe a Sparkle skirt and wearing my Minnie Mouse headband ears, but I don't know for sure.

Yeah, I have once done an "inspired by" outfit (I refuse to use the IMHO stupid "Disney bounding" term (I'm not BOUNDING anywhere...I'm going to a park or whatever), not that that was really in use that I was aware of at the time) for the Inaugural Tower of Terror - vaguely Mother Gothel-eqsue based on color only. But that was comprised of a running skirt and tank in reddish/maroonish colors. No one knew unless I mentioned it.

I know some people love to go all out, and that's great if they like doing it. But I cannot personally imagine trying to run in anything other than typical running clothes. And I've got more important things to do with my time than put a running outfit that doubles as a costume together.

Incidentally, last year my running club had our annual pre-NYCM pasta dinner on Halloween and we were encouraged to come in costume. Being a teacher of kids with autism we are fairly low-key at school about it, but try to dress up a little. I ended up grabbing one of my Disney marathon medals, my rD mylar, and throwing on running capris and the medal-matching marathon shirt and went as "a Disney Marathon finisher". I not only won a prize at the dinner, I stopped by the Expo and the people at the rD booth went nuts - took a couple of pictures with me, gave me a bag, etc. Haha!

Out of curiosity how bad are lines for characters? I am somewhat running for time as its my first 1/2, but I would love to get a couple pictures (especially Darth Vader if he is out).

Definitely. Especially if it ends up being a hot/humid race, I'd prefer to just wear what I'm used to. And that's awesome about the costume for the pasta dinner. Sounds really cute, and obviously it was a hit!
