Wine and Dine 2015

Just wanna say a quick thanks for the info and link on this thread. Got hubby and I registered for our first Disney race (he has run over 50 marathons, I've run a handful and a few 10k). We've had disappointments in the past with big city marathons, very happy we were registered for this upcoming w&d. See everyone in November!

With this being your first Disney race and experienced runners, I want to recommend that you be sure to submit time for seeding. I am sure you do this with each race, but with Disney races it is much more important. There will be many areas that bottleneck up when entering and exiting parks. If you are a faster runner and have to combat this, it will not be the most enjoyable experience.

Does anyone have corral info?

How many are there, how much time apart are they? Trying to figure out how many corrals will be between DH and I. He's a 1:45-ish 1/2 marathon and I'm a 2h15-ish...

Any ideas?

Tks!

Two years ago 1:45 was the cut off between A and B- B went from 1:45 to 2:00 (I had a 1:52 time so I was in B), not sure of the breakdown after that

Agreed- being in an early coral is very very important. I would never do this race back in the masses- weaving in and out of runners is just insane. Plus when you are in the early corals you get to the after party faster and get to spend time at EPCOT when it is virtually empty!!

Ok, so I know that being in a later corral is bad as I was in the second to last and could not run for about the first mile until we were up on the highway for the Enchanted 10K. However, I only have my time from the Enchanted 10K, which is 10 minutes slower overall than what I normally run. My husband probably won't have a proof of time at all solely because between now and August there are pretty much no races, especially 10Ks, nearby. Without extensive travel and expense we won't have the opportunity to get a qualifying time. Should I submit my Princess time anyways? It's a 1:37 10K so it's really not the best.

I am wondering...I only have 2 distance races to submit and both are Disney races so my gun time isn't great, and one I limped through lol. I am doing another 10k (now that I've done the distance I am working on time) for a POT. But when I asked if it was certified and how RD decides that, while it does sound like it will be fine, does anyone think I can email track shack after it is submitted and ask if they accepted it? I just don't want to find out right before the race they didn't and then I am stuck in the last corral!

I'm at your pace, too. Wonder where that will put us? I'm still thinking about that "solo runner" comment, and like I posted earlier, through this thread I feel like I have new friends/family who will also be running so thinking about it, TECHNICALLY we ARE running with friends/family. IMO>:D

I'll be running this one solo, but I am more or less running Tink solo, too. With Tink, I am doing it with a group of ladies I met on another forum, but we aren't actually running together (mainly because they had times to submit and I couldn't get a 10K before the Tink cutoff). I don't think I would want to run with someone. But for W&D it's just me. SO will be there to cheer me on and meet me at the finish line for both since he's not a runner. :) My parents are going to come up for W&D, too... they live in southwest FL now. :D

DD25 and I are both running but there is NO way we will be in the same corral. This is my first Half and am SLOW, lol! She asked if I wanted her to run with me, but I remember reading on one of Ariel484's TRs that slowing down to run with her friend messed up her timing and made her more tired. I don't want to do that to my DD! And while I really, really don't want to get swept, I would feel even more horrible if she was swept because of me. We will go there together and hang till corral time, then run at our own paces and meet up at the end. I am so looking forward to it. The FB page makes me angry so I am trying to avoid it at the moment, so I don't say something I shouldn't lol.

This is mine &DH plan. This will be my first race longer than a 5K and he is an avid runner so it just doesnt make sense for use to even try to stay together. I think there will be enough fun and comradierie along the way so neither of us will truly be "running alone"

That's where my parents live as well! :) So nice to have them close to Disney for the support!

My husband and I have run 4 Disney races together and are registered for PDC and W&D this year. We kiss somewhere around the porta poties (romantic right?) and go our own ways. I think we both enjoy the race and it doesn't put a downer on it at all. Sometimes I make friends, sometimes I leave one head phone in and go more internal (this is usually when I get better times). I always wait for him and try to get close enough to the finish line to see him finish :) Except for at Princess where I sat wrapped in a blanket and watched him finish on a video on the race tent you pay extra for and that I wish all RD races have b/c it was totally AWESOME to not sit on the cement for an hour waiting for family/friends. At Epcot I may go back to the room and shower then come back for them if my time looks good enough.

After you have a bunch of stories to tell each other and "oh did you see that sign" type stuff - so don't worry about splitting up we have found it works just fine :)

I hope that they give those extra registrations to the charities. People are lining up to fundraise for these organizations, it could be a win/win situation for all involved - including my DH :)

We were very Thankful for the option to run for a charity as I got registered but DH didn't get in time. So he for in to run for HFOT. It really is a win/ win He gets to run and help raise funds for a good cause, we have already had several people commit to sponsor him and he is actually even more excited about it now (didnt think that was even possible!) YEAh!!! Looking forward to November (as a side note the race is on my birthday!!)

I'm worried about this too. I have my time from our local Dam to Dam Half from last May that I was going to use but there is almost a 10 minute difference between the gun time and my clock time and I know they use the gun time. I ran a 10K last Saturday with a much better pace. The had people there printing off your time/pace info so I'm hoping it was certified. I just emailed them a few minutes ago and asked. Going by last year's corrals, my 10K time would put me in the corral a head of my half time so, of course, I'd like to use that one!

Meeting up with everyone from here would be a great idea. I do go to RD races with friends but I will also run my own race too. I plug in the ear buds and listen to Disney parades, firework shows and attraction soundtracks. Every run so far I have stayed on property. I am thinking since I live 2 1/2 hours south of Disney of driving up Saturday morning, hit the expo, enjoy the run and after party, then be back in my own bed by 8am Sunday. That is the plan as of now.

Bus service is available to Expo from the BW, great for those who are at Epcot or Studios and want to hop over to the Expo or go to park afterwards.

For any not registered who have DVC or a room. Can a bit of creativity be used with a travel agent package/Registration. Couldn't one book a room for 4, price out the room rate, passes etc., and those that didn't need the room would have their registration and any additional cost for those occupying the room, if lets say the reservation is for two.

For AP holders. who don't need a pass, are the passes in the package transferable or possibly could be held onto for a later date.

I hope to be a travel consultant, soon. Just thinking about ways to make travel package help.

I'm doing Tink solo as well! And I'll be in the back since I missed PoT cutoff. :(

LOVE this! It's been this way with us so far as well - he gives me a big hug, tells me not to cry and to do my best and then heads off to the front so he can get out ahead of people.

I've pretty much registered for every 10K I can find within a 30-mile radius between Easter and W&D cutoff. I know my 10K will be faster than my current half (ugh. I haven't officially looked at my time and I'm pretty sure I won't), and I don't plan on running another half. Maybe a 10-miler or 15K, but mostly 10Ks. I know the calculator will "punish" you slightly for a 10K time ... but I know I can pull out a fast one eventually that will get me in a good spot. Right now, for DLH, I'm below 3 hours, so I'll take that. But I'd like to be at 2:30 as an estimated finish time via the PoT website.

Hi all,

We went ahead and booked a room from runDisney. We got 5 nights at POFQ, Friday to Wednesday, and it seemed like a pretty good deal for this WDW novice. I understand it would be worthwhile to see if cheaper rates come out later on this summer, right? We got a package that includes a 4 day ticket, but we didn't do a dining plan. We were debating between French Quarter or Riverside, but my husband liked the room decor and thought it would be good for a trip without the kiddos, so that was the decision-maker since we don't know much about either. :)

I don't have a race time worthy of moving up corrals yet, but I'm hopeful to get one at one of the PDC races in May. I hope so anyways. My husband is quite a bit faster than me during training and local runs, but he likes to stay back with me and just run the Disney races for fun at my pace... we've done the DL half and 10k before, but we're always really slow with picture stops and such. I think we might try to run the Think 10k for a faster time and relax and do pictures for the Tink Half -- that way we can try and move up corrals for November.

... and we definitely don't kiss or hold hands during the race! Awk-ward...:rolleyes1

Is it too soon to think about our running "costumes" if anybody plans to wear one? Is that question totally off topic? princess:

Should I submit my Princess time anyways? It's a 1:37 10K so it's really not the best.

Submitting a time, even one that might not be the best, is better than not submitting one at all. Without a time, you will get placed in the last corral. With a time, you're at least one corral in front of the last one, giving you more time to finish the race and less people to dodge and weave around.
