Wine and Dine 2015

Anyone else planning their trip today?
Flying in on Tuesday but not going to a park.. Thinking about a nice TS lunch or dinner and maybe mini-golf ? Any other suggestions for a non park day?

I'm with you. At least until things die down a little. I love the positive support we have here. I don't want to focus on the negative. Even a post someone had in my PTR about not getting in was so negative that it really brought me down. Let's build each other up, not tear each other down.

Right!?! My favorite was when one person actually said that if you run solo, you should leave the Disney races to those that are there just for the enjoyment of the event itself, that there are many races all over that you can do instead. haha Oh and that no one wants to go to Wine and Dine solo. Why are they picking on us solo runners? I almost replied...I took the high road. lol

Orbitz with an Orbitz code on top of discounted general public prices is always the best deal - the only hitch is that those codes and discounts come out much later, often after the 45 day cancellation period of the rD package.
Yeah the Orbitz code that is out right now is for travel through Sept 30. I had this problem too when doing my reservations for Tinker Bell last August. The furthest out the Orbitz codes went was March. I did end up rebooking for Tink last month though, at a different hotel with a newer code. :)

I'm trying to decide if I should just book through rD now or wait. What are the chances that the moderates would sell out completely if I wait? I'm kinda hoping for POR... have not stayed there since two trips way back when it was still Dixie Landings. :)

Bored at work and just went on to see what people were saying for some entertainment. WOW! Everyone c/o of not wanting to run by themselves.. Yes I get it, I would've been upset too had I not been able to register my boyfriend. I've never run a half marathon but I've run tons of 5Ks and I always make friends during them.. Soo ok it sucks that your friends didn't get in with you, but you're really going to waste $190 and not run because you have to do it by yourself? I don't get it :/

Of my twenty-some half marathons, I have run two (2) with someone. All the other ones, I chat with brand new people in the corral, in line and along the course. Its part of why i like runDisney races, the participants are friendly and chatty. Not so much with other races. :/

Nothing wrong with solo runners!!! I run 5Ks by myself pretty much every weekend in the Spring and Fall. Sometimes I make new friends, Sometimes I just enjoy the run.

I find the amoeba runners (a pack of friends who clog the course, make sudden unannounced stops, have no regard for anyone else or anyone else's race experience...) frustrating.

Ugh! I saw that and it made me grumpy! I really wanted to respond with something sarcastic like "OMG, yes! And all those childless people who make the parks crowded and take all the good FPs - they should totally go to Universal!".

I haven't looked at the facebook group lately, but I had a feeling it would go this way. And that is good because I would have replied! I mean, I'd love to have someone to run with. But I am single (so I can't guilt a bf into it lol) and I don't know many runners. Those I do, just do more local races and/or do not have the funds to travel. I dare one of them to say something to me :smooth:

I'm trying, lol. I saw someone mention that comment on FB. I've been a solo runner for most of my runDisney events. And at this point, I will continue to run solo, my friend will run solo, but we will enjoy our vacation together. I'm trying to be encouraging for the people are at least trying out other options to get in, even if to doesn't work for them. And I love meeting people in the corrals. Especially because I know we'll roughly be around the same pace and it's fun to keep seeing them throughout the course. We're all one big happy runDisney family after all, right?

UGH. Those are the worst! Along with couples that run together holding hands.

No joke, at the half I did on Saturday through the first 5K I was stuck behind a couple that would take selfies and MAKE OUT at every mile marker! I was trying hard to stay with my intervals at that point, but I couldn't take it anymore and had to speed up to pass them. It was so gross.

Wow, I didn't see that on facebook. That's crazy. Sadly, someone would probably have thought you were being serious and then agreed with you about the childless people at Disney! I've run both my half marathons and the Tower of Terror 10 miler solo. I've run 5ks and 10ks with friends/family but haven't managed to talk any of them into the longer races. I've enjoyed the solo races and the ones where I have company. They're just different experiences but absolutely nothing wrong or weird about running a race, even a Disney race, solo.

So I just clicked on that link to see where it went, and got to the page where it asks to enter info. It gave me a chance to look more closely at some of the things. I went down to the options to select pins and other items, and now I realize why I didn't get charged for a pin on my receipt, even though I clicked to buy one. I was going so fast that I just checked the box saying yes, I wanted one, but never put in a quantity. Oops, lol. It's not too important, but if I decided I really do want one, how can I go back and do that?

This must be what I did! I checked yes but never changed the amount. Guess that's why I didn't get charged. I got a confirmation for "more magic" though.

On the runDisney page for the Wine & Dine, click on registration and scroll down or click on "Commemorative Items".
Then "Check if I am registered for a Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend commemorative item!"
Click the register button and it should let you register for pins, jacket or whatever you choose.

So, when I check to see if I'm registered for "more magic" it says yes. I'm confused if I should go back in a register for them again. I don't want to end up with too many.

Yeah, that's why I didn't say anything - because I just know there would've been multiple people that agreed with me not seeing the "sarcasm font" I was typing in.

I'm actually looking forward to running some races truly solo - I basically am right now anyway, since the husband is much faster than me. But it will be nice to have support spectating along the course rather than on the finisher's end of the finish line.

I'm going to just focus on all my new friends on here. I too love how we all support each other. Even if I didn't get in, I would be happy for everyone that did. There's already too much negativity in the world.

I ran PHM alone in February. It was my first solo half and I loved every minute of it! I could stop when I wanted to and wait for as long as I wanted to for a character photo. I even ran without music. It was just wonderful!

I'm debating when exactly we'll hit up the Expo at the moment. Probably midday/evening on Friday (so we can hit MK first thing in the morning), or on Saturday after a quick round at DHS in the morning. What were you thinking?

Here, here!

Anyway, I'm off to work for the night. Have fun everyone!

We will be at the expo on Friday afternoon as soon as we check in (it we get our usual direct flight with Southwest). It should be around 3:00 or 4:00.
