I just booked a 6 bedroom house for our stay in August. From everything I have read this is a very nice place. Can anyone who stayed in this area give me some 1st hand information? Also what is the best way to get to the parks?

Windsor Palms is very nice. It is a gated community of condos, townhomes and pool homes. They have a nice clubhouse with community pool, game room, exercise room, movie theater, sundry shop, etc. WP is very conveniently located on Formosa Gardens Blvd. off 192. Right at 192 is a nice shopping center with a Winn-Dixie supermarket (formerly Goodings), Giordano's - a nice family Italian restaurant and several other shops.

Getting from WP to Disney is easy. You can either take 192 East to the WDW exit or turn off at the Sherberth Road intersection and come into Disney property by Animal Kingdom. If there is a lot of traffic, that can shorten the trip quite a bit.

We just returned from our vacation on Friday and stayed in a 3 bedroom condo at WP. I would highly recommend it and agree with everything the previous post says. We used Sherberth Rd. everyday and never hit any traffic. I'm sure that you will enjoy your stay.

We just re'td also from a week long stay at a townhome (2393 Silver Palm Drive) at Windsor Palms. Our townhome was awesome - clean, beautiful and the beds -- pillow top -- never slept so good in my 40 years!!!

I know each home is different - did you rent one with a splashpool or hot tub?

They have Starbucks (Starbucks keeps me alive!) coffee in the clubhouse. The playground has new equipment. The pool is nice - never crowded.

Until i actually saw WP, I thought it was far from Disney. It is not. My sister and brother (we all have families) were at Disney last week. My sister stayed at All Star Movies resort. When she was boarding the bus, she would call me -- we would be leaving the townhome at the same time. We always got the the main gates first.

The place to pick up your keys to your home is on the way to WP.
There is an Outback, a grocery store, chinese/japanese food, etc. at the Formosa Gardens Plaza. It appears to be the nicest plaza on 192! Taco Bell and Red Lobster and Walgreens (open 24 hours) on corner.

We shopped at the Super Walmart and Publix. Wal mart is a left onto 192, go to Rte. 27, take a right. Publix is right on 192 also.

We took the sherberth shortcut in the morning-- we found at times it didn't save time unless it was morning and alot of traffic. Take into consideration that you are turning onto Sherberth, so the light is longer -- 3-4 minutes to wait for it to turn green.

My parents stayed with us -- we left the townhome at the same time taking diff. routes to Disney. The sherberth "shortcut" wasn't always the fastest.

IF we ever return to Disney, we would stay at WP again.

This is not the same for every rental. It depends on the individual owner and the property management company used. When we rented at WP, there was a lock box right outside the door. The owner sent me the combination and all I had to do was open the box and get the key when I arrived. I didn't have to go anywhere special.
