any opinions would be greatly appreciated. i tried to search for it, but the search function seems not to be working right now. a little info about us

family if 3 with a 19 month old at time of travel.

have always stayed on property in the past

we have already booked a reservation at pop century, but i keep coming back to these 2 places and a 2 bedroom condo/or a 3 bedroom townhouse with pool, and think that it may be a better option for us because of the baby.

either way we are going to be renting a car b/c i am one of "those moms" who feels sketchy about not having the baby in a car seat even in disney.

thanks!!!

We've stayed at both and I would give a slight edge to Windsor Hills. It's newer and a little closer to the parks. Also, at Windsor Palms, we were able to smell the sewage plant that's nearby at certain times of the day.

We stayed in a house with a pool in Windsor Palms with another family and a condo at Windsor Hills. The condo was perfect for our family of 6 (my parents, me, my dh and our 6 year old twins). However, I think we'll try a townhouse next time because it is great to be able to come home after a day at the parks and go to the pool without leaving your house again. With that said, the main pool at Windsor Hills is good for small children. It has a splash area with fountains and a very large zero depth entrance area. My only complaint was that the slide is very high and one of my 6 year olds was not tall enough to go down it. I wish they had a smaller slide for the younger kids.

While it's fun to stay on-site for a few days, I really love having the room and conveniences (kitchen, washer/dryer, SEPARATE BEDROOMS!) of staying in a condo or house off site for long trips. Good luck with your decision.

Both are nice vaction rental communities, built by the same developer and clsoe to Disney. Windsor Hills is the newer of the two.

Windsor Hills gets my vote also - and you should DEFINATELY stay there instead of onsite! No buses to line up for (you should rent a car and you are literally 5 minutes from the AK and 8 minutes to everywhere else). What is that saying, "you don't live in one room, so why vacation in one".....this is so true with a baby!! We've been renting for about 7 years and 2 years ago went back onsite for a week - it was not as "magical" as I remember being stuck in the room at the kids bedtime! Plus big savings on meals!!

I'm curious, what are the height requirements for the pool slide? I just booked a condo at WH and I think that my youger daughter (5YO) will be really upset if she can't use the slide when her older sister (8YO) can.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure it's 48", and from what I've heard, they do measure & check. I haven't stayed there, but had a friend who did last year and she had the same problem with a younger daughter who wasn't tall enough while her older sister was. I agree that this would be a concern & a potential problem for families.

I thought I read that WP doesn't have elevators (for the condos):confused3
I know I read that WH does.
That would be abig thing to me. Imagine lugging your stuff up and down.

Thanks,

I'm not exactly sure because it was my dh who walked them over there, but my ds is about 48 inches and my dd is 44.5in. So I think the pp who said 48 inches is most likely correct.

It is definately 48". It is a bit quick and lands in an area where you must be able to swim out of the way.

Windsor Palms condos are 3 stories and do not have elevators, so you could have 2 flights of stairs. I believe Windsor Hills condos are 5 stories, and clearly you'd need elevators there!

We've stayed on 2nd floor condos at Windsor Palms before and didn't really have a problem with 1 flight of stairs.

I will say after staying in the WP condos for a few trips, we've switched to the townhomes and enjoy those so much more! We like having our own parking space right in front and also our own splash pool. And we've found the prices are only slightly higher than the condos, but are worth it.
