Which would you prefer? I stayed at Emerald Island this summer but would like a different resort with different houses and a little newer.

I would guess you would like windsor hills the homes in terre verde are the same as in EI they have the same builder. Windsor hills has pulte I believe. They are the same builders as windsor palms.

Windsor hills is pretty nice.
The place is new, and the rates are very good.

The pool is well above average for Orlando, zero entry, slide. Hot tub. Movie theatre, gated. and the place was empty last sept when I stayed there.

The AC in the condo was under powered so that was not great. and I guess about half look out on to parking lots.

I will stay there again, bang for the buck is just great.

try to stay close to the pool, makes it nicer. try VRBO to get a good rate.

I think Terre verde looks great on the website.Would be good to hear from anyone whose been there???

Has anyone ever rented Villa Mimosa at Terra Verda? I'm thinking of renting it and the villa across the street - Tradewinds.

Went down in October to purchase a home. We were gonna buy in Windsor Hills and we stayed there in a nice 5 bdrm with a big pool. FWIW The design seemed odd to me and had a lot of wasted space. We ended up buying at Terra Verde for a few reasons; most notably the size of the project. Windsor hills was just too gigantic. Terra Verde was much more of a manageable scale and all of the homes were so much more close to the clubhouse with the very nice zero entry pool. The clubhouse is nicer at Terra Verde IMO. Landscaping was definately nicer and much more abundant. Builders are the same but Terra Verde is a few years newer. Terra Verde was right off of Poinciana and very handy to more stuff. I think its a few minutes closer to disney, but not sure.

There are lots of property managers with listings so you can eyeball different places at both. Good luck

Chrisinroch, are you talking about Windsor Hills or Windsor Palms ? Terra Verde can't be a few years newer than Windsor Hills because WH is only about two years old and landscaping and building is still being done in WH. And WH is only 2 miles from Disney Animal Kingdom whereas Terra Verde on Poincianna would be further. Windsor Palms would be a bit further than WH but still closer than Terra Verde. We stayed at WH are really liked it but TV looks good too. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either one.

Best website to look for places in Windsor Hills Resort:

www.windsorhillsrent.com

The beautifully landscaped gated community has 2/3 bedroom condos, 3br/3ba townhomes with private pools, 4/5/6 bedroom houses with pools, and of course an incredible clubhouse / waterslide pool facility with gameroom, movie theater, sundry shop, lagoon hot tub, ping pong, fitness center, and more. (Recreation area with tennis, volleyball, golf, basketball..castle themed playground). There is also shuttle service from the clubhouse, directions and times are available in the sundry shop.

The resort consists of 1000 or so homes, and is just wrapping up, the recreation area was just finished and opened up in November 2006, and the final few single family homes are being built in the western area of the resort called the Windsor Hills Reserve.

The best part though is the location:

We rented in 2004 in Terra Verde and liked it so much we purchased a 6 BR 5.5 Bath Villa there.
I feel the location is great you are close to everything.
I will be happy to answer any questions just PM me.
Villa Mimosa is very nice. I don't know much about Tradewinds but I am sure it is also very nice.

I reread my message and a guess it does come off like i'm putting windsor down. In retrospect, we are really talking about preferences between properties that are all really really nice and really really well located. We just liked the smaller size of the Terra Verde development and the additional green spaces for privacy and aesthetics. The clubhouse at Windsor seemed bigger and grander and has the private screening movie theatre. The community pool is bigger. The common areas at Windsor seemed to draw more folks, but that might have been a seasonal thing. Not sure if Windsor has the day spa but that is by appt only anyway at Terra Verde so you could arrange a massage or pedicure yourself anyplace.

There are tons of people renting and tons of management companies representing owners, so again, just check out some websites and figure out what things you like best. Its pretty hard to go wrong.

PS: make sure that house construction is either done or far enough from you to not be annoying. Do you really want to hear roofing nail guns all day?
