Heading down to WH this October for an 8 night stay.

Our group includes me, wife, our sons 7 & 11, and wife's parents. Few years ago we got a WH 3BR townhome and loved it. Plenty of space for everyone.

This year we opted for a 4BR house. This gets us a bigger private pool than the townhome's spash pool, plus gameroom with billiards, foosball and mini-basketball.

For the house, van, 6-day tix, parking and all taxes the total is $3638.

For grins, 2 rooms at Disney's cheapest Value (heh), tix and tax priced out at $4022, and the same at the cheapest Moderate was $5354.

Free Dining could have offset this a bit but it isn't offered during the week we're there.

Amazing

One of the real benefits of Windsor Hills for me is the resort clubhouse and pool area. You can literally spend whole days there without leaving the complex.

I always love a good deal! My family has never stayed at Windsor Hills, but we have stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek and Vacation Village at Parkway. I know a lot of people don't want to stay outside the magic Disney bubble, but for me the magic bubble isn't worth an extra almost $2000. I get plenty of magic at the parks, at Downtown Disney, at the resort restaurants, at the waterparks...And for us, standing on a Disney bus after a very long day is not magical. I like driving my own car around the world.

The only time we ever stayed on site was when we got free dining. The free food made it doable.

All in all, I think you guys made a great choice!

We have stay onsite over the years several times. We've loved some of the resorts and some have disappointed. I'm a big supporter of Bonnet Creek, as a Disney Vacation Club rental is thousands more, and in my opinion BC is a little nicer. It amazes me the amount of money people are willing to pay to sleep. Pricing the Poly for 2 adults 2 kids, for 10 nights in December this year was just shy of eight thousand dollars. Considering we have a group of 8 people, so double that number, is just crazy.(I know its deluxe, but its not that deluxe) Our dates did not entitle us to free dining. So we once again went with BC. Saved us thousands, honest, and with my MIL its so much easier to park in the handicap space at the parks, then jump on a shuttle bus.

We love Disney and have tried to alternate every other trip on site. This year we traveled over Easter and split it between WH and Coronado Springs. We all decided that even with missing out on EMH and Disney transportation, we really prefer the space and quiet we get at WH. There was lots of rain towards the end of the week and it was no fun being cramped in a 315 sq ft room when we could have been in a 2000 sq ft house for less than half the price. The only thing we miss staying off site is the ease of splitting up. A few times DS and DH would need a break (DS is on the Autism Spectrum) so they'd hop the bus back to the resort and we'd meet up later. The 4 BRs at WH are fabulous! Everyone has their own BR/BA and you only have to walk out the slider to the pool and spa. No need to hike to the pool and search for a chair or deal with busy busses and food court lines. Lots of great dining options on 192 as well plus Super Target.

Make sure you get the Sherberth Rd shortcut directions here on the Did and have a great time whatever you decide! :goodvibes
