Windsor Hills versus Bonnet Creek

We are hoping to vacation in March and stay at either Windsor Hills or Bonnet Creek. I can't decide which is better so I'd love to hear all opinions. It would be my mom (66), my husband and myself, and our three daughters (21,10, 3).

We would probably get a 2 bedroom at BC (I guess, how much extra are the 3 bedrooms?) and the cost would be $200 a night, unless it will drop closer to our trip.

I could get a 3 bedroom tie home for $124 a night. I think my girls would rather have the hotel feel of Bonnett Creek, but I'm not sure the extra expense would be worth it if Windsor Hills is just as nice.

Windsor Hills is nice, but further away. BC is on Disney property and very nice. If you have a higher floor you probably will see the EC Fireworks. It really is personal preference. You are paying for location.

I've stayed at both places. There are pros and cons to both. I guess it comes down to budget and if you want to put 6 people in a 2 bedroom??

I've only stayed at WBC, but my understanding is that WBC is more resort like and WH is a condo community

March won't be warm enough to swim unless the pool is heated, so I'd definitely go for more space. That would be much more relaxing for my family. :)

The pools at WBC are heated. I think, generally, the pools at all the places are heated -- if you rent a place with a private pool you will probably have to pay to heat the pool.

OP, I'd also like to mention that I hope you've gotten quotes from brokers like Vacation Strategies and Vacation Upgrades for WBC. They'll be cheaper than going through Wyndham directly.

I think if you look at some of the brokers recommended you will find there is not too much difference between a 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom at WBC.

Also, $200 per night is WAY too high for WBC if you are renting through a broker. Most of the 2 BR rentals I've seen through brokers have been in the $700-$1,000 range for 7 nights, and 3 BR's would not be too much more.

I'd research both WBC and WH more carefully and see what the real options are.

Thank you Jim. I've only rented a 1 BR but I thought her figures seemed high unless she was looking at renting directly through Wyndham. Great advice.

I'm pretty decided on WBC.

I got quotes from VS and VU and the VU quote was not only cheaper at the 200 a night, but he said at the 60 day mark if available, he can book us in a 3 bedroom for $160 a night. I don't know what the chances are of there being availability in March, but I am hoping that will work out. I'm told the quotes are a little higher because it's in busy season.

Yes, that is correct. March is Prime season, the highest points costs of the year.

Looks pretty good right now, except for four bedrooms. 1 BR Deluxe and Presidential, 2 BR Deluxe and Presidential, and 3 Bedroom Deluxe all available.

Just to give you a cost comparison, the Wyndham points cost difference between a 2 BR Deluxe and 3 BR Deluxe is a little less than 40%. So, at the regular rate, you should be able to get a 3 BR Deluxe for about 40% more than you were quoted for the 2 BR.

A 2 BR Deluxe has one King, 2 doubles (or Queens?), and a queen-sized sofa bed. The 3 BR Deluxe has two Kings, two double/queens?, and the sofa bed, which would accommodate your entire group in real beds. Both sized units have two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and washer/dryer in the unit.

We are debating this question ourselves. We stayed at WBC and we did like it. (BTW we stayed late March in 2012 and did get the 60 day discount so there is hope. The pools are plenty warm to swim in March too!). We had a two bedroom with plenty of space for 6 people (My mom, my DH, myself, and 3 kids just like you). It was nice being at a resort and all the different pool options available. It was nice to be able to get drinks once the kids and Grandma were in bed in walking distance from our room (plus we could see the fireworks at the outdoor restaurant). We were also so close to the boardwalk which was fun some evenings. We really liked it!

Why we are thinking about staying at WH is because we will be having an even larger group traveling with us. Parking right out of our own rental would be nice, because sometimes parking at WBC could be a little bit of a pain? The Disney Themed rooms at some of the WH rentals look so fun for kids, while there wasn't much Disney theme at WBC (nice, clean, and tastefully decorated for kids though). My kids love AOA but the 6 person suite for that price in June 2013 was impossible after staying at WBC.

Good luck with your decision. Since I haven't stayed at WH I guess I can't compare. Just letting you know the thoughts we are having between the two :cool1:

We stayed in a 6bdrm at WH and loved it. I looked into both for our next trip, but just loved the space/private game room/ private pool/hot tub at WH. Plus the resort pool and other amenities WH offers were great for the kids. We found it was very close to the parks and easy to take midday breaks. It was great to have pool at night when the kids were asleep(with being little we couldn't close the parks every night) to sit by and relax. Good luck with the decision I am sure both will be great!:goodvibes
