We have been looking at rentals at Windsor Hills. Are the townhomes in Windsor Hills all two story with all bedrooms upstairs? Are the condos one story? Just trying to get a feel for what would work best for us. Thanks.

The townhouses all have the same floorplan: One queen bedroom downstairs with a bathroom, kitchen, open dining / living room area and a 12 by 12 foot splash pool and patio through the patio doors in the living room. Upstairs there's the master bedroom and master bathroom, usually a bedroom with 2 twin beds and another bathroom. Washer and dryer are also upstairs. You can park right outside your front door. The townhouses are to the left of the pool/clubhouse area near the front entrance.
The condos have a floorplan that is all on the same level, no upstairs. There are a number of 4 story buildings with 2 and 3 bedroom condos. They have kitchen, dining/living rooms, and bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer and a balcony. You park in a parking lot near the building and take the stairs or elevator to your condo. You would use the main pool area. The condos are to the right of the main pool / clubhouse area.

Wow I think you know the place better than I do Sympatico! hehe

The biggest difference between the townhomes and condos is probably the private pool. Plus, the townhomes are on 2 floors and the condos are on 1 floor/level.

Oh...also the townhomes are 3 bed / 3 bathroom, whereas the 3 bed condos are 2 bathroom.

Both are very nice though, you can't go wrong either way!

George, if we keep vacationing there I just might.
Are you planning a trip down in the next few months? If so would you check out the construction going on in the new section. Someone on the TAdvisor forum for Orlando reported staying on Teascone in the 7770s and said there was lots of construction in that area. We don't go till Nov. but will be in the same area. I'm not too worried about it but would just like to know in advance. :)

I've driven around the new "Reserve" area and there is construction going on as they're still building probably a few dozen new pool homes. That being said, I don't think it's that big of a deal. We stayed in the townhomes in 2005 when there was construction going on all around us and most of them weren't even done yet, and we didn't even notice it! We're hoping to get down there sometime soon, not sure when though, I just took a new job and start in a week, so we'll have to see. DW is tentatively planning a trip down there first week in Sept with her girlfriends though.

I just got elected to the Windsor Hills townhomes HOA board actually too though, so I may have to travel down there on WHR "business" in the next few months! :) (Not such a bad thing! hehe)

I'm sure you can't go wrong either way. We booked a condo for January 2008 and I'm really excited! It seems like a great place. The one level thing was a factor as well as proximity to the main pool (although it seems some of the townhomes may be pretty close too). We determined that our experience would actually be better without a splash pool for various reasons, but everyone's needs are different.

Can anyone tell me where the new construction is going on in the complex? I'll have to get out my trusty map because I don't remember the "Reserve" area. My in-laws just booked a house for January based upon my recommendation. I would hate for them to be crabby if there is construction next door or something. :guilty:

Victoria, the construction is in the new section which probably isn't on the map that you have. If your map shows the clubhouse area then everything on the map is finished. The new Reserve section starts at the top of the map. Here's a link that will show the new section. The first part of the Reserve is mostly done but it's the top half of the map that's being built.
If you're in the homes on the original section you won't even know that there's construction going on. :)

This is a map that I put together using both maps.

We stayed near construction in March. I think the house we were in (see sig) was only 2 or 3 away from the construction (at that time), and the only noticeable difference was the fine dust at the bottom of our pool. It was in very small amounts, and did not bother us in the least, once we knew what it was (i.e. NOT mildew). We did not even hear the construction. HTH.

Thanks for the info and the map! I know the house is near the playground, but it sounds like even if it's on the end toward the construction area it won't be a problem. I can't wait! January seems like so far away...

We stayed in a condo last year (found it on VRBO.com) and we absolutely LOVED it. The only reason we didn't stay there the next time we went is 'cause we had free nights at Nick Hotel. We're going back in October (60 days from today - but who's counting?!) and are staying at the same condo. The owner was awesome to deal with, and answered all our questions and more. PM me if you want his contact info.

Like others have said, though, I did a TON of research on where to stay before our first trip, and I don't think you can go wrong with a WH condo or townhome. I've done tons more research for each subsequent trip and decided the only way I could do the trip any cheaper is buying a place of my own down there - an option I'm still considering.

Have a great time!

The playground is nowwhere near the construction. It's a big place, from that area of the resort you would never know there's even construction going on anywhere nearby.
