anyone know if we can we punch holes in these cards so the kids can wear them on lanyards? i'm sure each is going to want their own and I don't want them losing them.

A little over 2 months to go!!! I can't wait!!!! :woohoo:

Thanks,
~Connie

I have an "owners" prox card version that already has the hole punched in mine... (owners cards open the parking gates too)... we put a key ring on it with the keys to the home as well as the card.

I think it came that way...you could always call and ask, this is the person that issues the cards!

OK I called the resort and they don't allow you to punch holes in the cards. She recommended the plastic ID holders. Also the $6 deposit is cash only. I didn't know that.

HTH some future WH visitors.

Thanks

We'll be there next week and I'm a debit/credit card junkie. Cash, yeah, I remember that stuff...

what is a "prox card"? We'll be there in 2 months and I'm curious...:confused3

It's a magnetic card that you use to get into the community pool and clubhouse, and which expires at the end of your stay. They have them at Windsor Hills so that only registered guests can use the facilities (the developer learned from their previous experience of Windsor Palms, where people staying at nearby communities without resort facilities were using the pool there).

Thanks for the posting the info! I was thinking it was a good way to attach the card to my keyring and avoid ending up at the clubhouse without it. Is that a suggestion, the owners could put forward George? As long as the hole is not near the magnetic strip, it should work fine!

The company actually shows some cards as coming this way...and I pulled out my Windsor Hills keys / cards and I have 2 HID Prox cards with holes in them already, so it's something they're already doing it seems to me. Maybe just owner's cards have the punch? Ask when you arrive and see if they have any with hole punches? Bring a lanyard along? We put our home keys on a ring with our cards, this way we don't lose the keys or the cards.

I don't know what to tell you about the owner suggestions part, it's an office mgmt thing, not really an owner controlled thing, we can make suggestions but that's about it, so can guests though too while you're there! Eventually we'll have an owner controlled HOA board overseeing the resort but it's still all controlled by Pulte Homes for now, long story for another day.

Here's another tip...just so you know...or a tip for the athletically inclined. The WHR prox card will come with a sticker with a # on it. the card on the sticker is the code# for the fitness center in the clubhouse. In case you don't get enough walking at the theme parks and feel the need to work out every morning!

Curly..don't forget to pickup the Mystic Dunes discount golf passes while you're in the WHR welcome center where you get the prox cards!! (WHR guests get a big golf discount next door at Mystic Dunes!)

Once I arrive (the owner I'm renting from has some device on the door and we just need to enter a code to get in), how do we get these magnetic cards? I guess I need to ask the owner. How many should I get? We have 3 adults and 3 kids.

Fitness center - What are the hours? Is there a minimum age?

Security Guard - Will the owners notify the front gate that we will be renting their unit? Will they have our names there when we arrive? (I guess I'll ask the owners.)

Thanks everyone!:thumbsup2

Just go to the clubhouse for the cards. You have to pay a $6 deposit for each card but you get it back when you return the cards at the end of your stay. I am getting a card for everyone. If your kids are younger they probably wont need their own since they'll probably be with you to at the pool or if you rent sports equip.

Yes the front gate will have you on a list.

HTH,
~Connie

Fitness center - What are the hours? Is there a minimum age?

It's open 8am - 10pm just like the rest of the clubhouse.

I think there is a min age but I'm not sure what it is, if there is it's certainly not very enforced!

The rule that IS enforced is the 48" height requirement to ride the pool waterslide, the pool attendant's job is to monitor this so no one gets hurt, make sure people don't go down together and the landing area is clear, etc.

There are no formal lifeguards either, so you are responsible largely for watching / supervising your own children, just so you know.

If you turn on the Windsor Hills Resort cable channel when you arrive (channel 22) it will have all kinds of resort / pool / clubhouse / general information like this scrolling past on the screen.
