Windsor Hill: How to get to parks?

Hi All,

I'm being tempted by a few townhomes at Windsor Hill and I'm really curious to know if I'd need to hire a car to get to the parks? Any sort of mass transport available? ***

Also, do you pay for parking at the parks?

EDIT: Ok so I found that they do have a shuttle! Hurrah. But how to I get groceries and stuff? I'd probably still need a rental car right?

Cheers :D

*** I only ask this as at the theme parks here in Australia you can pay for a bus to pick you up and drop you back to your hotel easily - like a custom shuttle.

It probably would be recommended to have a car, as the shuttle could get expensive. It is $11 per round trip per person to WDW and $14 or 15 per round trip to Universal and Sea World. There are taxis that could be reasonable depending on how many are in your party.

I have never used them but I have heard of some that use grocery delivery such as Garden Grocer, www.gardengrocer.com, and there is a Sundry Store on site with basic necessities and have light meals and now a pool bar.

It is $14 per day to park in the parks at WDW and $15 at Universal. I think Sea World is around the same price.

So you have to weigh the cost and also the convenience of having a car and coming and going as you please.

Good luck in your decision!

Sandy

Not sure if it applies for you, but there is no parking charge if you are an annual passholder. Sometimes it's worth it to have one member of your party get an annual pass just for the parking (especially on longer trips of 8 or 10 days or more).

Just got back from WH and it was wonder (Romancing the Mouse), but I would recommend a car. There are so many places on 192 to eat and shop. We used the Super Target several times to get groceries (it's just about 10 min. away) and right next door is Sweet Tomatoes (yum!). There are also tons of other places. Unless you plan on only going to the parks and never leaving WH in between, I'd get a car.

Not having a car would make a stay less enjoyable. Avoiding the hassles of others schedules (the transportation group whoever they are) and the cost of taxi's is a big plus. An annual pass at Universal is about the same cost as a two day pass & includes free parking. If you plan time there (and you should - they are the best rides in Orlando) that is the way to go.

I would never stay at WH without a car.

Stayed at WH twice and really enjoyed it, but I would never do it without my own car.

I agree with the above posters...a car at WH is a must. We ended up saving so much money by staying at WH instead of onsite, that the rental car was well worth it!

Thank you all for the replies :) Looking at car rental now :D Must remember to drive on the "other" side of the road ;)
