Just wondering had any DVC members stayed at the Windsor Court hotel new orleans ( Concierge collection )

Any good or bad reviews ? pirate:

Well, I haven't stayed there myself, but I live in Baton Rouge (1 hour away) and go to Nwe Orleans all the time. It looks like a very nice hotel. Hopefully someone who has stayed there can help. However, if you are looking for a trade, I think the points exchange is way high. New Orleans has awesome hotels with great deal all of the time. Dependign on what you are looking for, you can get a very nice hotel on Bourbon for $120/night at the Royal Sonesta. And that's one of the nicest by any means. Of course, it also depends when you want to go, but that would change the availability of using the points, too.

i have stayed there at least ten times and i even proposed there.............it is a beautiful place right across from the casino but since it has a closed entrance most people dont even know where it is. The restuarant there called the grille room is the best restaurant in the city and it is one a 10 hotels in the US to have true five star status..............you will never regret it

the royal sonesta compared to the windsor court is like comparing a holiday inn to a palace.............trust me the windsor court is better than the best four seasons...........it is that good................and i married a girl from New Orleans..............we go to NO all the time and if we dont stay with family we are at the WC..............

Not personally but a former boss who stayed all over the world and found fault with hotels from the Ritz to the Four Seasons absolutely LOVED the Windsor Court and insisted on staying there when in New Orleans. He also really loved the Grill Room. The Windsor Court also makes the list of top hotels in the world. I was very excited when DVC added it as an option -- hope to get there someday.

Windsor Court is a VERY nice hotel!! You will be very pleased. I'm not sure I'd call the Grille Room the best restaurant in the city, for that you'd have to take the streetcar to the Garden District to Commander's Palace. Anyways, have a great time in my hometown!!

I have stayed at the Windsor Court. It is a lovely hotel. The flower arrangements are probably the most impressive I've ever seen. I'm sure it's the best hotel in NO. I would stay there again if I had points that were going to expire. However, on all of our subsequent trips, we have chosen to stay at less expensive hotels.

At the Windsor Court our room was elegant and spotless. My major complaint was that our room was very dark. I bet if you had a room that was higher up or on the front side of the hotel, you would get more natural light. Our room was surrounded by buildings. Even on a bright spring day, we didn't get much light. Plus, I prefer staying at smaller hotels right in the Quarter.

I have to add that Commander's Palace is my favorite restaurant in NO too. If you go, have some turtle soup and a bread pudding souffle for me.

I just wanted to add that although I prefer staying the Quarter, I could see how some people wouldn't. I like being right in the middle of everything and enjoy the charm of the older hotels. I love to people watch and hear the sounds of the Quarter.

Can't help with the Windsor Court Hotel, but will second or third Commander's Palace as a place to eat. Wow, it was great, but make sure you have appropriate attire.

Sorry about hijacking this thread even further, but if you go to Commander's - try lunch there. I go frequently since my office is a couple of blocks away, 2 courses at lunch start at $15 and martinis are 25 cents. LOL, since I've been pregnant, lunch with the gals there hasn't been as cheap since cokes are a couple of bucks more than the martinis!!

not to beat a dead horse but commanders is great for certain things........the aforementioned turtle soup and bread pudding souffle are to die for, but not much else is a gastronomic must there. I lived thcityor 12 yrs and i will tell you that overall dining experience is far better at the Grille room than at commanders. I would recommend commander much more for lunch than dinner. Commanders has become very touristy and its consistency real took a hit after Emeril Left. It is still good but is no longer JAmes Beard good in our opinions. If you want soem great dining options in New Orleans i know all the local spots jsut PM me. If you want real authentic BQ shrimp or real Crawfish etouffe again there are places to go and others to avoid. Many of the so called hot spot, like Brennans, should be avoided. There are some places that are so good you wont believe the quality value propostion you can get in this city for the price of fast food at times..............
