Window Treatment Help!!!! ** PIC ADDED **

Wow thanks for all the great ideas -

There isn't alot of room by the 3rd. window & door.

I was on JCPenny ordering a bunch of panels & valances to try out, then I chicken out!

Golfgal - my DS picked out that picture and loved the gold & red! I like the shape of the valance - I was looking at something like that.

Then I was thinking of doing the panels between each window -

I just need someone to do this for me - window treatments really stress me out. Plus I hate putting holes in my new walls!

Where would you mount the cornice--above the window? The bottom of the cornice would have to be at the top of the window trim for that to work and then you still have the issue of the door and the panel getting shut in the door all the time.

No, about 4 inches over the window between the window and the door. There's room enough to make it work. You're thinking that each cornice needs to center on the window, which is not the case, because the side panels will cover the fact that the cornice is tight and a little off center on the window. You then center the other 2 cornices over the window and the eye sees that they're all even, when in actuality, they aren't. It's magic! ;)

I would either replace the blinds with roman shades, or use decorate window scarves on decorative iron rods in conjunction with the blinds you have. Check out Target.com. I know they're not the most high end, but they have nice designs for reasonable prices.\

I'm afraid if you put panels between the windows, that last window near the door will be a problem. It will either get in the way of the door opening/closing or if you leave it out it might look funny.

If you weren't trying to keep the view open, I would also try putting shears on each window and then tying them in the center. Kind of like the picture on pattern #5783, but with shears.http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?page=thumbnail.cfm&cat=2&type=0&sec=25&StartRow=21

Whatever you do, I would try to keep it simple. The architecture of your windows is so pretty and the view is great.

My DB and DSIL bought my grandparent's house. The walls are plaster. My DB dulled 3 drill bits trying to put up
curatin rods. DSIL figured out she should glue the rods. She had DB cut little pieces of wood and glued the curtain hardware to the wood and then she glued that to the wall. She found the glue at home depot-it was some kind of super strength stuff. Anyway,it's an idea if you don't want holes.

I still think that if you do that then the drapery panel will be caught in the door all the time if I am understanding you-4" to the right of the window toward the door? You would still need to mount the cornice so the bottom of the cornice is at the top of the window trim because there is only about an inch between the window trim and the door trim, right?

I was thinking roman shades like Tw1nsmom. There are so many styles to choose from!
