I just saw some material to print your own window clings. Does anyone know if they will work on stateroom doors?

DCL does not allow the use any type of adhesive, including window clings on the stateroom doors. They leave a residue. The only thing your allowed to use on your stateroom door are magnets.

OK - I knew I couldn't use anything adhesive, but didn't realize window clings fell into that category. :thumbsup2

Some of the packages you can purchase for the staterooms include mirror clings, which we used on the mirrors in the stateroom for our daughter (and she loved). They had no issues with the clings being on the mirrors that I saw. That's an option as well, rather than the stateroom door, depending on what your goal is.

To be clear - there are window clings that are a sort of gel substance. Those are not allowed due to the dyes being able to bleed out onto the surface they are attached to.

Then there are window clings that are basically a picture on a plastic sheet. Those don't really "adhere" via an adhesive, so I believe they are allowed.

Yes @PrincessShmoo - these are not the gel kind. They are the kind that you would put on your car windshield.

To put it fairly bluntly, dcl ask that you only use magnets, period. Please just abide by what they ask :)

Here's the letter that DCL is going to be distributing:

Dear Guests,

We are glad that you have joined us aboard the Disney (Choose Ship)!

As you may be aware, it is important to us to keep our facilities looking their best for all our guests. As part of our commitment to this area of focus, we ask that you do not affix anything to your stateroom door utilizing tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives. We have found that these adhesives damage the finish on our stateroom doors; therefore we ask that you limit door decoration to those of the magnetic variety.

Concurrently, we ask that guests not use over-the-door hanging organizers as they have been found to scratch and/or disfigure stateroom doors and trim.

Guests found with damaged doors are assessed a $100 damage fee per incident to cover the cost of repairs.

Your attention to this matter will greatly assist us in keeping our shipboard environment looking ship-shape. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Guest Services, Deck 3 Mid-ship.

If interested, magnetic door decorations are available for purchase in our merchandise area. For your convenience, magnetic strips are also available at Guest Services.

We appreciate your cooperation and hope you have an enjoyable sailing.

Sincerely,

I didn't know that it was *explicitly* magnets, but I did know no adhesives. Please don't just immediately surmise that I was trying to circumvent the rules. :sad2:

Hey!
No need to be sad!

@disneyfaninaz did tell you

In the first reply to your question it does explicitly state just magnets.

All I did was show you a post @PrincessShmoo posted a while back with what dcl were sending out because people were damaging the doors, and highlighted the important parts for your attention.

There is no need to feel sad or upset! All I did was draw your attention to what has been posted previously and highlight what dcl want and ask that you do as they wish!

@C6PT7 - You are right about the first poster - I had only focused in on the gel clings portion of that response.

I'm not sad, but too often on these threads if someone asks a question, people automatically assume he/she is trying to circumvent the rules. Shmoo mentioned the difference between the gel clings and window clings, I just responded that the kind I saw were the window type. That wasn't my way of trying to find a loophole.

No worries and I didn't think you were trying to find a loophole for the record!

there are mirrors in your cabin and bathroom, or a porthole or balcony window that would work perfectly if you still want do make some :)

BTW this smilie is sad :sad2:.
If you hover your mouse icon on it, it is sad2, and that is why I said no need to be sad!
