What kind of wind does it take to shut down WOC? We will be there tomorrow and we're wondering of the 19 mph wind forecast was enough to cause any concern.

And for that matter, do they ever shut down the fireworks because of wind?

I don't know the exact MPH required to close down fireworks or World of Color. I can say that in my experience, fireworks have been cancelled more than World of Color due to wind. WOC runs in MOST conditions, but they did cancel it once last week, or maybe 2 weeks ago, because of wind.

I think it being windy was conincidence.

The show had technical difficulties.

The fireworks were cancelled on day during our trip. I believe it was Monday, Dec 5. The winds were quite noticeable that day. However, WOC went on as scheduled.

Oh, I remember reading about the technical difficulties day, but I'm referring to a particularly windy day in the last two weeks when my co-worker was at the park. Throughout the evening he said they were making announcements that due to wind the show may be cancelled, and then he said about 3 minutes into the show, they stopped and said due to wind the rest of the show was being cancelled.

If this was 12/5 it was def because of winds.

As far as the winds and DL go, I spoke with a DL CM at length about weather and fire works. They do everything that they possibly can to keep the fireworks going....but because DL is surrounded by so many houses and businesses, they have to be very weather sensitive. Every night before fireworks they send up a weather balloon from the launch site. Even if things are calm at ground level, there can be weather up high that can cause a cancellation.

Also, this same CM stated that WOC is cancelled only a small fraction of the times that DL fireworks are cancelled.

HTH!!!
