Wilma landfalled as CAT 3... Damage Reports just coming in

Polk and Hardee have canceled schools. Hillsbourgh,Pasco,Pinellas said school is on as of now. Kinda suprised. There are some indications of more north shift in landfall. Also possibly hitting more as extra tropical. Will interesting to watch. We still have very low confidence. Updated forecast from me in next 15 minutes.

No real discussion tonight. Models shifted slight north. I decideed not to shift real north just yet. Looks like Wilma will spend less time over Yucatan then previously thought. NHC shifted a tad south but they did they say they are on the southern side of all model guidance. FSU Superensemble shifted north more in line with Port Charlotte and northward landfall. Indications Wilma could possibly turn into a Extratropical storm. This would mean wind and rain spread far north of center and would greatly increase effects on Central and North florida. This bears watching. Several models do pick up on this. At this time its just as probably she will end up in the keys as in Tampa. This is even according to NHC. So we still are very uncertain. Stay tuned and check back often.

I just want to add my prayers and good wishes for everyone in Wilma's path. Please be safe.

Broward County just cancelled school for Monday. Hurricane watches went up at 11 AM for all of the Keys and up to Ocean Reef. They are expecting hurricane watches to go up for some of the penninsula later today. They just showed our area on the news because of the flooding from last nights feeder band storms. We are in BIG trouble if Wilma is a really wet storm as we are projected to get the dirty side of the storm even if it goes north of where they have it plotted now. Thankfully so far today no rain so hopefully some of the flooding will receed before Wilma hits. They have the pumps out to get rid of some of the water but it was high tide so they couldnt run them.

Miami-Dade still hasn't cancelled school for Monday. If this one comes in north of us it will be the dirty side and we are in for a rough ride. If it goes through the Keys were are better off. Still have no idea where it is going. Wilma is really a mystery.

School's still on for Pinellas & Hillsborough too. Considering we're in the cone anyway, I would've expected some sort of action by now.

At least the next one's looking to avoid the US completely, but it is amazing to be seeing history in action, if it does become Alpha (which I imagine will occur sometime in the next day or so).

I find that pretty stuphid they have not cancelled yet. To put it bluntly tampa will be getting Tropical storm conditions on monday. 6-8 hours of torrential rain and 40-60 mph winds. This will have huge windfield. So I would be very suprised if we wake monday and school is on. More then likely Tampa will be in hurricane watch and eventually TS Warning when it hits. Thats with none north shift of track even.

Drat! I always knew I'd end up in the yellow zone someday. :rotfl:

Great map btw. According to the local weather people, it looks like my town will get sustained TS force winds, for a while on late Sunday into Monday. It could be worse. At least the temperature is going to be a rather frigid 75 or so. :teeth: If power goes out we won't miss the AC quite so much.

I have been reading this thread and watching the news with interest. We are in Lake County..Anyone else?.. Wonder what we will be in for..

Lake County here as well. Your guess is as good as mine. I'm prepared, the only thing I could do is make some ice to fill the freezer with.

I've got friends in Key West who are still teetering as to whether to stay or come here. I"m getting worried that by the time they decide it could be too late...

Hey Matt, now that Wilma's eye is in the gulf, what is the FSU super model saying?

Thanks in advance.

Why isn't the FSU public again? Is this the one that was the most accurate predictor last year?
