Williamsburg................cheap

anyone been to kings dominion lately? have not been in about 15 years just want to make sure its still fun!

We have. We have passes and live about 20 minutes from there (I'm kinda in between KD and BG). We like KD. They have a kids section that is all Snoopy (no more Hanna Barbara & Scooby Doo). There are TONS of roller coasters, several old wooden and lots of new ones. My DD7 can ride most of them, but the 3 or 4 newest ones she's just shy of being tall enough. There are more shows (and therefore more opps to be indoors in the A/C) and Busch vs. KD, BUT, the one thing that I think KD has over BG is that the water park is INSIDE the theme park and therefore, you really get 2 for 1. Versus having to do BG and Water country seperately. We sometimes go to KD and JUST do the waterpark. KD opens at 10 and the water park part opens at noon. There are changing areas inside the water park so you can change into your suits and then back out of them. Or you can throw on a cover up and go ride some rides. You can rent lockers too. $15/day, but you get $5 back when you turn in your key. We never rent a locker. I just leave my bag w/beach towels on a chair by the wave pool and carry my passes & $$ in one of those hard waterproof box things around my neck. Never had any problems.

KD might be more of a bang for you buck given that you really kinda get 2 parks in 1??

Thank you so much for the great info!!! My MIL kept asking why I didnt want to go to BG instead and I kept telling her KD was way better when I was a kid, price and the 2 for 1 park! BG tickets are 67 vs KD @34 pp. seems like a waaay better deal!!!!

I wouldn't necesarrily say KD is better than BG, they are very different. BG is a BEAUTIFUL park, lots of shows, new Sesame Street kids area, BUT, KD has more rides (and IMO that's important because both myself and my DD love to ride rides), new Snoopy land for kids, and, like I said, you get the water park too. Definately different parks, you would enjoy both, but you will get more bang for your buck at KD. Get there when it opens and stay all day!
