Can someone familiar with this area help me? I have a few questions about Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown.

How much time do I need to tour Jamestown and Yorktown? A day a piece? An afternoon each?

What should we do if it rains? Will all the historic attractions still be open?

Where is a nice place to stay? We need a suite - there is 5 in our family. I don't want to spend a fortune but I don't want to be totally grossed out either.

Has anyone done the Haunted tours? Are they worth it?

Has anyone done the "Haunted Dinner Theater" ?

I think thats it for now....Thanks in advance for your help!!

I;ve stayed at the Embassy Suites, which is in a decent location. If I had a family of 5, I would look to see if I could rent a timeshare, since they have a lot in Williamsburg.

What ages are you traveling with? My DD loved Jamestown settlement--we spent most of the day there. She also enjoyed Yorktown Victory Center, again we spent most of the day, in part because they had reenactments of a troop camp, with people who talked about cooking, cleaning and caring for so many people in the camp.

She liked Colonial Williamsburg also, but prefered Jamestown-lots of activities to do there.

If it rains, the indoor programs continue--you jsut have to walk from building to building.

haven't had a chance to do the haunted tour yet.

Keep in mind that there are two different areas for both Jamestown and Yorktown.

Jamestown and Yorktown BOTH have the actual historic sites.

Then there are the "tourist" sites of "Jamestown Settlement" and "Yorktown Victory Center". http://www.historyisfun.org/

The Tourist and the Historic sites are different from each other. You can let me know if there's any other questions. We don't live there but we visit A LOT. :)

Thanks everyone! My kids will be 15,12 and 9 when we go. I had planned on a full day at Jamestown and Yorktown and 2 or 3 days at Colonial Williamsburg. We would also like to do the dinner theater, the ghost tours and some mini golf. Maybe 1 day at Busch Gardens too. I planned on 7 nights. Is that too long?? Will we get too bored?
I really appreciate everyone's help. I haven't been since my honeymoon 16 years ago!! And well we really didn't have to worry about being bored   :woohoo:
